Okay, two questions:

1) How do I make dips in the terrain? I can make hills, but not dips.

2) How do I move path nodes upwards? I need to spawn up in the air on a platform, but the nodes refuse to leave the ground.

Use rightclick, anytime you use it (not just with terrain, but with color, etc. as well) it reverses the direction of your action. Hills are changed to valleys, colors are reversed, water is removed.

Press shift with your click to drag path nodes upwards.
