Mod Tool to XSI 5

Post by MetallicA »

I'm probably missing something here but is it possible to convert projects from Softimage Mod Tool to XSI 5? I recently acquired XSI 5.0 Advanced so that I can export some models using the official exporter. The problem is that I cannot seem to open scenes I was originally working on in Mod Tool 7.5.

I tried exporting through meshex and importing it with meshtool, exporting as .xsi, even exporting it as the ValveSource SMD file. The scene is empty when using .msh and .xsi. The SMD just corrupts (most likely didn't set it up correctly).

Any help?

I doubt that models are going to be "backwards" compatible, try exporting as a obj.

Free Autodesk Softimage 7.5 Mod Tool software sticky wrote:...you should export your scene using Crosswalk as Filetype ".XSI 5.0 (text)" to keep from losing any data and this also will allow someone with the proper version of Foundation, Essentials, or Advanced version 5.x to import your scene and export it properly to SWBF msh.

Cool! Didn't know you could export it to a certain version of XSI. Thanks a lot Ace!
