Terrain in Space Maps, possible?
Would it be possible to add terrain into space maps? I've made mountains etc. and they don't show up after the munge. I'm guessing this could cause unstable saves though.

I've tried that before and no matter what you do, it makes the map crash. You also can't texture the terrain and you get the stupid grey color sheet thing.Elmo wrote:Well what you could do, is make a space map, then in the world1 folder, replace the space TER file with a ground TER file of any ground map, then you could shape the ground to your liking with capital ships above.

Making terrain on a space map requires a bit of maneuvering with your .wld file and your sky file. I was able to make a finished level with terrain on a space map, but it eats a bit of memory and has a tendancy to be laggy on lower level machines. I suggest making a ground map instead, messing with the terrain values(1024x1024 worked well for me), and then placing your ships on the ground. In the lua, put the line SetGroundFlyerMap(1);.
