Hello,

I have been working on a new map quite a bit. As you can see, it´s called Imperial Base.
It´s still a beta version and there are a few bugs, and some things are not going as they should.

The zip file is about 120 MB due to the Side edits I made.
Those who have played my Pestox map will be familiar with most of the side changes.
You can also find a rough description in the readme.

Here are some screenies:

This is the readme:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Star Wars Battlefront II

Imperial Base beta version - made by Delinquent

Installation: Put folder DIB into: Star Wars Battlefront II/GameData/addon

Short description: Infantry fights in corridors and vehicle combat in a huge hangar.

Side changes: A lot... most important ones:

- Character movement slowed down, jump height reduced.

- Rifles and Blasters are more powerful ---> more realistic and more star warsy gameplay

- Many weapons need to be charged up for full effect; grenades can be thrown farther if you hold the mouse button.

- Most weapons become more accurate/inaccurate, depending on your stance and movement.

- The engineer´s health packs have been replaced with a medikit on the secondary weapon slot, which basically works like a fusion cutter.

A complete and detailed list of all the side changes will be delivered with the final version.

Things to do for final version:

- AI Improvements

- Map Improvements (glitch fixing, texturing etc.)

- Localization (Weapon Names)

- Various fixes

Credits:
I credit Rends for his as beautiful as useful container objects, which can be found in the front hangar.

Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Enjoy the map!

Have fun!

Del

By the way, the map features GCW era only.

This is totally awesome! I'm very picky about my maps, but your's passed my test! It's a keeper just because of the new weapons! The map is beutifuly crafted! You should totally make a Tantive IV map with these weapons, and make the battle look more like the movie!

This map is amazing.

I'm not a big fan of modified sides, but these ones are awesome, especially the Rebel's Heavy Blaster. I was also quite amazed at the map itself, all of these various pieces from different maps were fused together almost perfectly. It looks as if it were the interior of a Star Destroyer (good idea, eh?).

Good job, its very detailed much like your Raxus Prime (which I personally think is the best Raxus Prime). This map now has a permanent spot in my addon folder, until the final version that is.

After playing it, I have one suggestion: Could you get rid of the zoom in third person and put the shoulder view back?

I can't seem to get this map to work. I dL'd the map, put it in my addon folder, and then ran the game but when i tried to play the map it crashes while loading. Any ideas?

If you have the mod tools, try running BF2_modtools.exe and see what happens in the log. You did copy the DIB folder out of its original folder, right? Cause otherwise it won't work.

Anyway, I've just played this map, and I have to say that it's AWESOME! It's definitely a keeper in my addon folder. I love the new weapons, and you got all of the different objects to fit together perfectly. Way to go! :)

I didn't find any bugs with the exception of localization and the lack of loading screens. :P

If you want to reduce the filesize a little bit, you could try having the various units descend from the game's units so that you can delete their .mshs and .tgas from your side folders. Like this: (in the odf)

Code: Select all

[GameObjectClass]
ClassParent         = "all_inf_rocketeer"
and then load the game's "all_inf_rocketeer" in your LUA before you load your own. If this doesn't make sense (I'm not that great at explaining things) you can PM me and I'll try to do a better job, lol. ;)

Great map Del, this one is definitely a keeper! :)
I must say that i got lost a few times when i first played it, which is actually a good thing because more passages the better.
Also great job placing all those objects so perfectly.
I also thought that your Raxus Prime map is the best one yet.

Sorry I spelled your name wrong Delinquent. LOL

Wow this is a cool map! :D The only criticism I have is that you need a more detailed minimap that marks the details inside of the rooms and you should have a regular mode that has the normal weapons because after a while, the chaotic ones get kind of annoying :?

One possibility for you to juggle around for the final is to make the rebel pilot's weapon into an actual (slugthrower) machine gun. That's what it always seemed like to me, since it is drum-fed.
