MYGEETO: WAR TORN CITY wewtage!

so after my frustration over knightfall, i ressurected one of my old projects.
and here she is. it looks realy sweet, the whole map is cool, except for the stupid collision, some of which i cant fix. its also really hard, the battle is pretty intense, and you really have to work hard to win, which is awesome. the ai haul butt instead of standing around, and they will kick your if you dont move! ;)

she is in beta stage, which means im still working on it. so feel free to give your input. check that- if you download this, you better give me your feedback!

dude, this map rocks. the AI are savage, and the battle is one of the most intense i've played, even for a shipped map!
the bots are like seriously argessive, and i had to play even harder than i do online to try to win. aaand i still lost (last pic) :P
yeah, i just played it a couple times and it was awesome


for some reason the lights on that bridge where the clones spawn dont work, and i dont know why, because the same lights work at the other end of the map.


please dl and let me know the bugs/fixes or just your personal input or opinion. be honest, if it sucks, tell me. ill make it better. if it rocks heavy, tell me. you'll get a cookie. :D


edit- oh yeah, one more thing. this map like has no lag. even with the settings all the way up and shadows on full, i dont lag- but if i have shadows on full in any other map i lag. so ya, im not sure why, but its sweet!

I got imp_strikeforce's permission and am currently hosting the map on swbfmac.com's server :)

You can download it here.

Of course, once Jedikiller uploads it to FileFront.com, I'll change the link there as that will be better for my bandwidth :P

you've been doing really good so far

mybe you could assemble a team and do a back words converion pack

insted of all the bf1 maps for bf2 have all the bf2 maps for bf1!

it might be a huge project but it would be worth it in the end :)

you know that huge huge building in the middle? pretty much the stairs are the only thing that had collision, everything else you coud walk right through, i had to build all that collision myself, using only 8x8 32x32 and 64x64 cubes- thats all i had to work with, because thats all that is shipped with the tools, which severely limits what i can do in terms of fixing collision. kinda a worse problem on this map, is the horribly innacurate collision that there is! you have probably experienced when you are hiding behind something and you try to pop out and shoot around it, and your rocket/nade whatever just bounces off an invisible wall. or when you try to walk through a tight space and for some reason you just hit this wall and you cant go any further. that is the fault of the game. those objects already have their own collision geometry. the thing i cant understand is, why in the world you[pandemic in this case] would create an object, then make a separate collision area that in some cases is bigger than the actual object!!!!!!! i mean, seriously what is the point of that?!? why cant the object itself be its own collision, like everything else that works just fine????

rebel_scum and i are already working on getting as many swbf2 maps converted as we can :D
however because of the abundance of stupid issues (like the ones mentioned above) it is extremely tedious- just look at my knightfall thread...
so we definitely are a team. the ideal situation would be if we knew xsi, and we could take all the objects that needed collision and fix them perfectly through xsi, or if we could get someone else to help us that would do that.
that and solve the terrain problem. specifically, the .TER files from bf2 arent compatible with bf1, and i know there must be a way to "convert" them, but i dont know how

You might try opening the SWBF2 levels in the SWBF1 Mod Tools version of Zero. It will save it in the SWBF1 format. That *might* work if you haven't tried it already.

yeah i have tried it.
if you try to just copy a whole world folder from BF2 to BF1 tools you cant open it. it crashes. if you just copy a bf2 .TER file you CAN open it up in the bf1 zeroedit, however if you try to move the camera around it instantly crashes. but if i save it, it works and i can open zeroedit again, and open the newly saved and converted .TER file, but when you do it like erases all the terrain data that you were trying to get, and the thing is just flat. i need to get this fixed. can someone who knows how to hex edit possibly copy the coordinate data from a bf2 .TER file and edit it into a bf1 one? i have tried, but it doesnt seem to work.

I play SWBF1 more than 2,5 Years and with the Bunch of AddonMaps it still a great Shooter.
I think many People play it anymore.
Your Map will stay in my Addon Folder.

Make more of this,dude :lol:
