I was wondering if it would be possible to patch the dedicated server.exe to 100 players. Someone did this in bf1942, battlefield 2 too, they even changed the server manager slider to 128 (bf1942 also has the BBO server manager)

Probably not. Or rather, it's probably possible to do, but the game engine would most likely commit suicide in a bath of dirty needles and napalm if you tried playing a 128-player match.

I think it`s a little bit unnecessary. I mean ok It would be cool. But Bf2 is not the most played game for the last few years. Servers with 64 players filled are not so often as before when the game came out. So I think it is not really necessary to rewrite the sm.exe to get 128 players on a server if servers with 64 slots are so empty. It'd be good If may somene did it a few years ago but I think the online active players prefer to play on small servers (5-10 players) on different servers.
And It may be really laggy if you get 128 players (or 100) to one server. Again It would be cool, but It's not really needed for now. But I think it's worth a try.
