High Ping

First of all, here are my specs:
Dell Dimension 4700
Intel P4 2.8Ghz
1GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon X300

I did a speed test for two places:

(The first is closest to me, and the second is pretty far away)
As you can see, both are pretty good... except for my ping.

Anyways, I recently got Battlefield 2 and so I installed it, started it up, joined a server, waited like 10 minutes for the program to "optimize shaders for my computer's settings" or something like that, and then when the server had loaded, it froze. I had to manually restart the computer (by holding the button for 5 seconds).
I had nothing open except for Xfire - I had even closed MSN.

Today, after my Dad had opened the ports that Battlefield 2 uses (thanks to a nifty little feature on our router), I tried again. Same problem, except this time I was able to Ctrl+Alt+Del out of it instead of restarting the computer.

Both times, every server had a ping over 100, usually from 150-400.
I'm guessing that's my problem. I have the same problem with America's Army, except I'm usually able to play for a few minutes before the game freezes. I can play SWBF2 and Jedi Academy fine...
Also, I can play Battlefield 2 offline (single-player) fine.

Any help?
If you need any more info, just ask.

There was another topic remarkable like this just a couple days ago. Are you on a wired or wireless connection?

Wired.

EDIT
Sorry for the double post, but just to make sure this is seen.
For the record, one time when I joined a Battlefield 2 server, I got kicked and got some message about "packets".
I always used to get the error in America's Army from Punkbuster about "losing key packets" or something.

Does it only happen with particular games/servers, or do you have trouble joining every game? I had something like this awhile back and after checking the software over and over I just replaced my ethernet and phone cables with different ones. I saw an immediate improvement. So if it's an across-the-board thing try replacing the cables.

Your pings on servers can really vary. At work I'm on a T3 line and if I were to ping game servers most would be in the low 100's but even then I'd still find servers with 400+ ping. Remember it's not all you. Also realize that different games, and even specific servers in those games can set ping tolerances. So you might have one server that will let you join with 750 ping, but another that won't let you join with more than 200 ping.

Well, all of the servers I've tried (probably about 10 in total) have crashed/kicked me at the end of the loading period.

Even the low ping ones?

Low, as in 100-200? Yes.
That's as low as it gets for me...

EDIT
Bump... so I take it that nobody knows?
