When you double-click do they just do nothing? Does an error message come up?

I have the same problem. ZeroEditor will not work on windows 7. However munging does work.
I've been making a sides mod, with no problems at all. I just can't get the ZeroEditor to work.

It says this when I munge it. Maybe 3d Analyze would work for zeroeditor? but i am not sure what settings to have it on.

I managed to download 3D Analyzer successfully. But as of yet it hasn't helped any in getting Zero Editor to work.

Windows XP Mode

Post by Nexus »

I give up. I'm sharing!

Some good news. Try Windows XP Mode. It works well. But it is slow and there are loading problems every so often.

Also I learned if you edit a bat file out of a data map, it will munge and will work in game, but the language will not load correctly. But it's easy to fix as it is only the addon core.lvl affected!

I do a Windows XP Mode for a map once (or go to a Windows XP comp) and then copy the core.lvl. Then, on Win 7, edit this bat file:

Drive Letter:\BFBuilder\Datamap\_BUILD_PC\munge.bat

Edit file. Go where it first says: @set PATH="%CD%"\..\..\ToolsFL\Bin;%PATH%

Take out %PATH%. Munge. Then move the core.lvl you copied from before and paste it in the addon folder of your map. Move it in SWBF as normal. It works!

I don't know how to edit .bat files but, man, it was nice to get this stupid error out of the way. It saves a lot of fustration, believe me.

Now I can finish my Deluxe Map Pack. http://www.xfire.com/video/cb71f/

Windows xp mode is only compatable with a few proesssers. you need to run this tool: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

and make sure you have Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate. If you dont it wont work.

Question for everyone: Is your computer a 64-bit system? Because I have a Vista 64-bit system and the munge won't work on it either. I have a feeling it is the 64-bit instead of the normal 32-bit. (After all, it uses the system 32 program to munge.)

The Difference between a 32 and 64 bit system shouldnt make a great difference:
it only enables the use of more than 4 Gigabytes of RAM..

What you mighty like to try is something like "Compatability Mode" for the Munger and ZE..
mind you, since I cant afford win 7 at the moment I cant tell you how to activate the compatability modes for various OSs (like win Vista, XP SP2/XP SP3, ME, 2000...)
It basicly emulates the settings of the selected OS for that precise program, so it believes for instance, that its on a win xp or Vista machine..

the Windows XP mode thing is effectively a virtuell windows XP machine running in your win7 machine.. (its a bit technical so I wont go into more detail, try googleing it.. )

anyway; give that a try.. google something like "Windows 7 Compatability Mode" and you should find a couple of tutorials on how to activate it and select the OS to be emulated for the progam..

Also; 32 Bit Programs will work on 64 Bit systems; the only thing is, they just cant use the extra RAM on the System.. thats all.. (by my knowlege anyway..)

It not only enables more than 4 Gigabytes or memory, it also calculates this faster (because its has 64 bit per very small second). One other thing is Some programs is not compatible with it. Mostly anti virus/spam programs.

windows: right click program => click properties => "compatibility" tab => Compatibility Mod => check the box and click "Windows XP (Service pack 3)"

Jango: "...I got a new PC with Windows 7 on it and zeroeditor and munging wont work at all on it. "

If the other advice doesn't work for you, I figured out why the munging doesn't work and a solution.
I'm on a MacPro using windows 7, so there may be some difference, not sure, but here's what I discovered. It may help you as well.
For some reason Windows 7 creates new files when modifying .tga files in the MSH folder.
Try a quick test to see if this helps you...
1) Modify a single .tga file in the MSH folder. Do something quick and simple, so you don't waste time. Like, the "All_Inf_medic.tga" file. Just change it's color or something..
2) After modifying it and saving the file, look in the MSH folder for a new file, starting with an underscore called, "_All_Inf_medic". and a file called, ".DS_Store".
3) Delete those files. .. Don't delete the original .tga file though, just the new file that starts with an underscore, and the .DS Store file.
4) Munge. It should work. Does for me.

Hope this helps.
