I should state... I really need feedback on the ships. Please let me know how they fly, bugs you find, suggestions, etc. I want to make these just like we think they'd be.

Godd Job, here are the major issues:

Overall
All vechicles except A-wing lacks sound
Some of them tilt when you press A and D when others turn(it's supposed to turn)
The vehicles take dammage after spwning in MP (maybe a map issue)
Some lack explosions

A-Wing
Good job overall, the best one.
The blaster sound is a bit strange
Reversed pitch (when you pull the mouse down the vehicle goes down, it is the contrary on all starfighters)
No cockpit
Strange crosshair
Strange engine glow

Moldy Crow
Strange collision mechs (the wings go through the ground)
No engine glow
Strange turning
No explosion

Hidden vehicle (didn't figure out what it is)
Good overall
Reversed pitch
Strange engine glow
No explosion

Millenium Falcon
Only one seat
Bad engine glow (too low)
It has only blasters
The turning is strange
The pitch is reversed

K-wing
Good engine glow
It acts as a gunship(means that you can stand still in midair) i find that strange, since it looks like a bomber
The rockets the pilot use only work at close range
Good cokpit
Good explosions and debris

Troop Transport
Good animation for the wings
Strange engine glow(flashes)
A little to slow i think
Turning is good (nothing is reversed and you can turn using A/D keys)

That's about what i could find out. Sry if there are any spelling errors, i wrote it the same time i was testing (using Alt+Tab) Tell me if you need more feedback (i maybe din't include everything you need here)

I appreciate the info -- the reason for the inverted controls *I think* is cuz I used the snowspeeder as a template.


Troop Transport
I'll keep tweaking the glow. I need to figure out which verb controls the flash
I might speed it up a bit, but it's only a shuttle so I can't to much.

K-Wing
Yeah, gotta work on the rockets. They're mega slow
The gunship thing --- I'll check that out. I'm headed to Barnes & Noble this week. I'll read up on it

Thanks for the comments. I'm sad to say I really haven't spent much time on this one. Still, it's nice to have feedback.

Currently uses Jedifighter's weapons (thus the funny sounds)
Cockpit is done, but not working right, so I disabled it

A-wing ... Id replace the texture with the 1 from bf2 if i were you. The XWA 1 looks kinda plain and lowrez.

R-41
The glow is to close to the ship and to wide, it doesn't seem to come out of the engines, kinda hard to explain. Color and size is OK, it just have to be further backwards

A-wing
Same goes for the A-wing, the glow should be further backwards. The glow is also flashing (same as the troop transport) and when you take of it's too wide.
I also noticed that there is no explosion.

I also noticed that the K-wing doesn't have any mark if it's friendly/hostile when you're aiming at it don't know if it can be fixed though.

The problem with the vehicles taking damage after spawning dissapeared when playing MP with bots activated.

Plz fix the pitch, it's unbearable like this (i think it is the main issue)

Hey, do me a favor... Take the snowspeeder for a spin on Hoth -- see if the pitch is inverted. That'll save me lots of time trying to find the problem when I get off work tonight.

I noted your other comments. I'll get to work on those this week. Thanks for the feedback, BC.

yeah the T-47 airspeeder is considered a starfightere for game purposes...so it flies like the X, and Y-Wing's...and stuff

I don't really like how when you press the a or d keys and the ship just tilts because I ususally turn with those

Yeah, i commented that sawyerdk. Well, what i mean by inverted is: When you pull the mouse (or what ever you use for pitch) down the vehicle is supposed to go upwards, just like in a real airplane. The gunships, in contrary, go downwards. This whole thing depends on your controls, but for me the starfighters go up when i pull the mouse towards me. The inverted vehicles (for me) are:
Moldy Crow
R-41 (the impact sound is a bit strange)
A-wing (BTW the sound of the rockets is perfect)

BTW, the snowspeeder is NOT inverted!

My controls are like this on a normal starfighter (X-wing,Y-wing,Jedi Starfihter,TIE and droid starfighter)
Mouse towards me - Up
Mouse away from me - Down

The controls are inverted when using a gunship (MAf or LAAT)
Mouse towards me - Down
Mouse away from me - Up

The controls are the same for infantry and other vehicles as the ones for the gunship.

Hope this made it clearer.

k..so basicaly the Crow, R-41, and A-Wing's y-axis is like the gunship's (for you)

wich prolly means that they will be ok if you have starfighter y-axis un inverted (yes they ARE INVERTED by defailt...that's just what it's called) either that or they'll be the opposite... in wich case... confusing...

yes, it's supposed to be inverted, but these vehicles are NOT inverted, that's what's bad. They are like th gunship, and like infantry.

BTW, if your planing on releasing a mod or something i dan translate it to Swedish. I work as a free time translaor and translate things like that (free of charge for GT members of course). I can translate it to swedish and/or french

I just wanted to update things. Right now I'm really busy with school, but hopefully over Thanksgiving weekend I can finish up the A-Wing, R-41, fix the bugs on the K-Wing and Troop Transport, and get much further on the Moldy Crow. The first four should go fairly quickly if I can get a nice big chunk of time. The Crow I'm not sure about. It'll go forward easy enough, but the camera angle has been tough to nail down.

I'd really like to get started on a B-Wing I have access to, but I don't have XSI (not even Mod Tools) and since I've d/led them once, softimage won't let me do it again. That being said I'd really like a XSI guy to help out with anims while I get the odf ready. Anyways, all in good time. I have other ships to knock out, plus I need to finish Sullust up.

A-Wing is in the downloads section. Load the Airspeeder and X-Wing sounds for sounds to work.

I pulled the A-Wing because of a bug. However, I do have lots of "Tech Map" reporting to do:

A-Wing:
-95% complete - I just need to debug. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a cockpit. I had one completely made, but it crashes the game

R-41 Starchaser (from Mysteries of the Sith and X-Wing Alliance):
-Model is now properly scaled and hardpoints (like pilot seat and laser positions) are done
-Weaponry is now done to my liking. I had to tone it down from XWA for balance issues
-Collision works, but it's not perfect. If you walk onto the cockpit glass or into the back of the ship, you'll go through, and might die. Oh well. I dunno how to fix it.
-Have a cockpit model I can put in if I can get a hand figuring it out

K-Wing:
-I have more accurately labeled the turrets -- "Ball Turret" and "Top Turret"
-It doesn't sit still anymore. It's not a MAF, anyhow
-FPM for the pilot was fixed, securicam FPM's for the others were added
-The pilots missiles have an increased speed. The used to be so slow you could pass them up

Imperial Troop Transport (Landing Craft):
-This one's as done as it gets, I can't figure out what makes the flames flicker, or I'd fix it

Millenium Falcon:
-Begun work on a proper engine glow. Yes folks, it can be done (using the same technique from the Trooptrans)
-Mesh is being 'retrofitted' with some HP joints for the turrets as well as fire points
-Crew compliment will be four: Pilot (some sort of cannon), Co-pilot (no weapons), Ventral Gunner and Dorsal Gunner
-This ones actually being worked on in a separate project for now, so you probably won't see much, if any difference

Moldy Crow:
-It has been scaled down again, and is sitting at the right height this time
-Adding joint HP's for the belly turret. It won't be able to pitch up/down much, but will have 360 degrees of rotation


NEW features:

Tech Factions:
-Factions will be CIS vs Republic only by name. All unused or new models/skins that are 'free access' will replace the standard troops. After all, this is only a tech map.

CIS Side
-Grand Admiral Thrawn
-Imperial Officer
-IG-88
-AT-AT driver
-Imperial Commando (Rebel Vanguard reskin - unreleased)

Republic Side
-Bothan
-ARC Captain (red)
-Republic Commando (either using Stormtrooper or Clone pilot model)
-ARC Commander (yellow) -- fictional character

Other Features:
-ODFs are being created for the different unused props. I'm sure that there's literally 50 or 60 that I won't get done, but some will be in there so you can take a gander
-Rebel Transport lander, Republic Lander, CIS Lander will be present


Once I'm done with the ships, the Tech Map will be Data folder will be released, allowing everyone to use the ODFs and resources freely and easily.
