Re: Battlefront III News
Meh, I know it's not likely to happen, but I just wish we'd get something one way or another. I can deal with it if it's not going to be like the footage we saw, or if it's not even going to be released... I just wish we knew more about what was going on. Ah, but such is the way of the gaming industry...
off-topic: I just noticed at 1:46 in that video, Darth Vader looks to be using Count Dooku's combo. Is it different on the console versions of the game or something?

We don't know, but I'd bet big money the re-did everything from scratch, so "Dooku's" combo would actually be all-new-animations.

Re: Battlefront III News
You misunderstood, I think. I was talking about the G4TV viedo (http://g4tv.com/xplay/videos/36163/Gami ... 11609.html) which I thought was Battlefront II footage.

It is Vader using Dooku's first and second attacks in SW:BF2.

Re: Battlefront III News
You know, I just realized that we are very lucky to even be speculating that BF3 is still in production, since I heard a rumor that in '05 or '06, a bunch of games were cancelled by LA, which apparently included KOTOR 3 and Republic Commando 2 (just a rumor, take it with a grain of salt)

Re: Battlefront III News
Well, at least Lucasarts would still own the assets to any development, just not the engine, so if it does get started over we'll have something to work with.

Re: Battlefront III News
So, has there been any news from LucasArts about BF3?

Those two things are completely unrelated. They want money, and they will pursue whatever avenue is the most efficient path towards that.Nova Hawk wrote:Why is LucasArts keeping us in suspense? Don't they want a BF3?
If they choose to make a SWBF3, its creation is most definitely not contingent upon our knowledge of it.

Re: Battlefront III News
STILL. You guys aren't getting that you can make anything look good in a trailer, even if it's actual gameplay, because you know where you shouldn't go when recording gameplay (unfinished areas) and what you shouldn't do controls-wise that's broken. It looks like it was nearly ready for release but that means nothing.
Here's a good example: The ship takes off from a Coruscant building and flies up to a hangar in space. Did you notice one other AI anywhere? No. No AI flying ships, nobody on the ground or in the hangar. So just one ship and a bunch of 3D props. Cool, yes. But given that they talked about the ability to BATTLE seamlessly between space and sky means that the footage you saw might be nowhere near complete since there was one ship the whole time. And what happens when the character gets out and moves down the hall? They change to a different scene entirely.
Now don't get me wrong, but all I'm saying is that what looks nearly complete isn't. I know. I have 10+ years in the gaming world, plus my experience in web design. How many times was I pressured to put out a release of the Convo Pack because it looked "complete" only to find out you all find 100 bugs? So to sum it up: It could have been close to a release (but if it was Lucasarts would've let them continue, no?) but a snazzy trailer doesn't necessarily mean that it was.
Again, I'm just happy that all those assets belong to Lucasarts. For those confused as to how that works, see the hide section:

Amazon has been wrong before. If a release date has not been confirmed, then don't trust Amazon.revanshan wrote:Amazon uploaded March 2009 as the realease for BF 3. We should wait for the E3 or smth. But it's in July...
They are gonna release about 8 new games in early february... Hold on tight!

Many, many, Many MAny, MANy, MANY, MANY, MANY times before. In fact, I've learned over the years to never trust Amazon's dates, as they almost always change. It's a little trick called "lets get your preorder money by putting a date out there".Ping wrote:Amazon has been wrong before. *SIGH* I suppose I have to post this YET AGAIN.

Re: Battlefront III News
I agree March 2009 is way to early for a release, the project has just now been rumored to go back to Pandemic and LucasArts has not mentioned anything about it.

Re: Battlefront III News
I am just waiting to hear some word from LucasArts. It doesn't seem likely that it'll be released in March. Because like Mav said, games need two months of advertisement before releasing and here it is, the beginning of February, and nothing has come. I'm hoping that BF3 will be released soon, but if we have to wait till like mid-Summer, then I'll wait (just barely). If it does get released in mid-Summer, then we have the rest of the Summer to play it.

Re: Battlefront III News
This fall is the earliest anyone could possibly hope for the game to come out. Maybe not even until spring of 2010. Wow, that's nearly five years after Battlefront II came out, can you believe it?

Lol, wow that's hard to believe I've been playing BF2 for 4 years... You know, time may change and we could get BF3 sooner than you think.

Re: Battlefront III News
Actually its been just over three full years since the game was released, fall 2005 - fall 2008 and counting early 2009 but wasn't it just like a year or a year and a half in between SWBF1 and SWBF2 release? I guess because of all the problems with Free Radical that SWBF3 got behind.

Interesting news on Free Radical

Guess we'll find out what they're doing (at least the company) soon.
