I suggest you re-read the documentation that came with the modtools, as it does cover basic side editing, which answers your first question (specifically, the Jedi Creation doc). This: ...is the Everything you need thread - common netiquette dictates that you read stickies in a forum before you post. You should also always search for your answer before you post a question about it.

Make sure to read the sides-creation guides specifically in the FAQ thread.
