This is going to sound really ignorant, as I never played Dark Forces, but was there jumping in that game? I remember that there was something that really set it apart from like, Doom, and other games of that era, but could you jump?

Yeah, it had jumping. Along with a few other FPS features that weren't standard back then.
Wikipedia wrote:Dark Forces was commonly called a Doom clone, but the game makes significant expansion upon the gameplay features present in Doom.[4] The new gameplay mechanisms that were not common at the time of release include the ability to look in all directions, duck, jump, run and swim.[5] The usage of multiple floor levels is another technical advance in the first-person shooter genre.[8] To produce these new features, the developers wrote a game engine from scratch.[9] The Jedi engine can create gameplay and graphical elements such as fully 3D objects, atmospheric effects such as fog and haze, animated textures and shading.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I knew I'd seen it somewhere before, and just hadn't really considered Wikipedia.

How do turn on the generator? I got to the turbine one (via FC, since I spent 20 minutes looking around trying to find and get to it without success), but how do I activate it?

Use the "use" weapon on it.

And if it doesn't work, then you are pressing the wrong button in the wrong place....
Edit: Oh, and using freecamera to find game objectives is cheating , but that doesn't concern me.

You are referring to the spinning bridge? There is a bridge crossing the canal near the landing craft. Cross it and take a right turn. In this area you will find a control panel to the spinning bridge and activate it.

I mean for the generator. Whjat is the spinning bridge? is it the one in the river, that has a pillar sticking through the center and looks like it's rotated away from you? And leads to the locked door with a rbel symbol? I can jump to that, am I not supposed to be able to?

Why would you jetpack over to the generator? Why not just go through the cantina? There's always ways to complete this campaign mission without using cheats. It was designed so that a player can complete it. The answer to all of you questions is yes even the last one. You performed the jump and got across the bridge, right? That means you were able to.

Yes, Iknow it's possible to beat t without cheats. I just couldn't find the control panel that turned it on. Well, after 20 minutes of searching for how to turn on the generator, I finaly added the FC code for jetpacks, hoping I could find out from a birds eye view. But, I still couldn't find out how to turn it on. I could reach the generator, I just couldn't figure out how to get it operating. So, I just skipped over to ubermode (much fun, btw, if a little unbalenced). Then, yesterday, obi figured out and gave me a hint, so I know where it is now. Yay, I beat it without cheats! As a side note, I only use Fake Console on my own maps I'm looking for bugs on, but it was getting really tiring searching for 20 minutes.

I know what you mean, I spent an entire hour thinking the spinning bridge control panel was the power generator console or something.

I'm glad you guys like the map (or Campaign?). Sorry, Commander_Fett if I was a bit harsh at all. I know the Campaign can be a bit confusing at some parts but wouldn't you agree that the original Dark Forces mission was too? I thought it was.

The first time I played this Campaign mission I thought the spinning bridge was some sort tram system. Silly me.
