Adding lighting and shadows....

Post by Ipodzanyman »

I've noticed alot of people have been having issues putting in shadows and lighting, so I decided to write a tutorial....

Image
1. Go to the tab "Light"
2. Select the tab "Place"
3. Select the light under "Select"
4. Place one of the lighting things on the ground, using "x" and the middle mouse button to drag the light up.
5. Under "Type" select "DIR" or "Directional"
6.You will notice the ground will get a variety of shading if there are hieght differences or objects. Using "Z" you can rotate the light to your liking.
7. Under "Name" rename the light to something like "SUN" or "FIRSTLIGHT"
8. Under "Directional Light 1 Name" put in the custom name.
9. Under the "Top Ambient Color" you can change the color of the lighting.
10. But, wait, you can get more control of the lighting by adding another light source, just don't make it create shadows, because that gets really messy....
-That's my basic tutorial, hopefully this will help :P

EDIT:

-HOW TO USE SPOTLIGHT:

Image

set the spolight's range to your wanting and place it in the specific area...
Make sure it touches the ground other wise it will light mid air areas....

Awesome!

That was understandable. I've always had trouble with lighting. :D

You can also change it under "Bottom Ambient Color."
