I've made a few unconventional weapons/methods so far.
In fact before reading this topic I devised a healing gun of my own for the zombie sides.
Aside from that, I've constructed a realistic shotgun that fires rounds of straight-firing sticky ordanances set up to look like tiny wrist rocket shots, upon impact the sticky grenades instantly explode, replicating the desired effect of a shotgun tearing through a body. But more to the point, it bypasses the deflection I placed in the zombies, equalling the playing field.
I've made zombies capable of playing dead, by falling to the animation of dying and holding them still for 30 seconds (given, the ai tend to hack through this combo placed limitation.)
I have made a gun that placed solid objects on the map, such as the kashyke rocks. It made a good glitch-style covering.
I've created health droids run by auto turret systems armed with choke, placed them by an animated floor that moves into ground, by which if your unfortunetly caught by the droid and it decides to let go, will send you falling to your death.
I have also created a health droid that shoots bolts of lightning with negative push, that pull you in as they kill you.
Thats a small list of the many, many things I could tell of.

what if you did something like mace windows ground smash effect, except make it make a crater (giant hole thing) in the ground? and it would be cool if it had like a wave effect where it would be like a force push from all directions.
also, what about a tunneler? you could make a little(or big) tunnel digger thing(forget what their called but they are like a giant pointy cone...) that when pointed at the ground (or rock or whatever) can start digging through it for a hiding place or a way to get into a base.
And, what about a flying suit? make it look like a halo clone thing and put the blue jet pack exhaust come out of there feet though. and that would be the vehicle. for instance, if a rep clone trooper trooper went in it, he would look like the halo-ish clone. put like rocket launchers on it and unlimited jet fuel since its a flying vehicle. dont know if this is like a weapon cause its sorta like a power suit.

@ Scorch - Those, like a lot of the things in this thread, aren't really unconventional weapons. They're just fancy effects, like the Mace Windu thing.
The power suit would require setting up a custom walker in the sape of a unit. Impossible.
The tunnel digger has been suggested before.
@ MetalCoreRancor - Though they aren't really player-usable weapons, I love the idea of the evil health droids. Imagine a maze of them, where if you get too close to one they kill ya.....

New idea! A target switcher device, something you throw on the ground and all the enemy AI attack it instead of you until its dead.

How bout a gauss rifle I know it's not an really unconventional idea but the gauss rifle seen in crysis would be really cool to add to bf2 or somethign along the lines of that. It has a really high rate of recovery but fires a really powerful shot at really high velocity and range it also should have the zoom of a sniper rifle but is just really slow to reload also maybe attaching an explosion at the end would be cool

Done it before but called it a Railgun ...'gauss' rifle sounds better though.

Here's something: an EMP charge that you can place like a detpack on an occupied vehicle. Upon detonation it will force the occupants out of the vehicle ("hacking" it) without doing any lasting damage to the vehicle itself. Got the idea from BF2142 'bout a month ago but neglected to post it. As I recall, Maveritchell did something similar in Dark Times, but those were with grenades.
Here's another: for a medic unit, "surgery". It uses a fusion cutter msh, or rather a custom one similar to it, and when fired upon a friendly unit it has a 75% chance of healing, 25% of instant death (bad doctoring skills). As you heal more and more people with it, you'll unlock the award weapon, one with a heal/kill ratio of 90/10. Basically simulating improved skills.
Hm. I ought to try those out.

First one - unfortunately can't be done with a detpack, as the ones Mav used are simply haywire grenades (have class label "haywire") that will always act pretty much like nades.

How about a rocket launcher as shown in
THIS image would be pretty cool. It can't be too hard, except for making an entirely new model for it, which I guess does actually make it pretty hard.

Looks like an RPG launcher. The way a weapon looks does not define how it works in SWBF.

Isn't there some LUA code to force a unit out of a vehicle? It's child's play to write up a code that goes sommat like such: Upon damaging of a vehicle, check the last weapon it was hit with. If it is that certain weapon, shove the person inside out. Of course, for that to work the weapon would have to do at least 1 damage. Fortunately, 1 damage pretty much = no damage, for all practical purposes other than LUA code. But that's all assuming you can force someone out of a vehicle via LUA. Can you?

I've got a good one.
Fake Health/Ammo Packs - You know when a player dies and they drop those health and ammo packs, and AI troops always pick them up? Well, I was thinking of making false ones that you could drop like a mine, but the AI would still be programmed to pick them up so when they get to them, they explode. It would be pretty funny to see, and could possibly work?

that would be relatively easy to do just change the health and ammo values to negative whatever and make a new one that does negative and then just add that in to the com_inf_default .odf

Well but I think your team members will catch the health / ammo packs too, and then you will kill your own team members?!
