How can I stop effects disappearing?

When there`s a lot on screen, units, rain etc. Some effects start to disappear. Like the red glow on grenades doesn`t show up, muzzle flashes and explosions aren`t there and so on. Is there a way to fix this?

Try raising the memory pools.
There's a list of them here.

Ok I did. It didn`t have any affect so I added "SetMemoryPoolSize("Ordnance", 500)" and still nothing. I also added "SetMemoryPoolSize ("EntitySoldier", 9000)" to see if that stopped lots of units going into their lowrez mesh, nope

There are also hard limits that you can't bypass. How many units do you have on the map at one time?

It helps to texture grenade objects a bright color (if it fits your visual tastes) so you can see them when effects die.

All up it has about 343 units on the ground at once. That`s a LOT more units than any stock map has. So is there pretty much no way to fix it? It`s just because of the game engine limits?

The only way to work around this bug is by optimizing the particle effects (in terms of particle count).

Yep. I see no possible reason you'd ever need that many units in play. The game was never designed to handle that many, so aside from optimizing your effects like Marth said, you really need to dial your expectations back.

Alright well I`ll just leave it. I was only curious as to if there was a fix. It`s fine that there isn`t really one.

If I lowered the units then the map would be very empty. 343 units is a perfect amount for the maps size

Then your map is probably way too large. It'd be understandable, since overly-large maps are a common beginner's mistake. :P

Beginning or not. As long as the map runs fine and is well-polished, enough testes and content-wise very interesting or unique...I wouldn't call it a mistake anyway.

Thank you! I will admit some parts I think are a little too large, but I`m happy with it and had some close friends test it for me, they said its a big map but where pleased with how full/unempty it was. I`m doing my best to polish it up.

And I like big battles anyway...
