"getting into" a password locked server
Hi once again, i was wandering how some people that were not given a password get into a password locked server. i had a server on with just me and this guy comes in and i didnt even know him but somehow he got into my server without a pass. I would love to know how to do this for my clan "reasons". if anyone can shed some light on this i would be grateful.

Probably just hijacking; I'm predicting that the person guessed the password.

If the password was 1234abcd then yes it would've been an easy guessMarth8880 wrote:Probably just hijacking; I'm predicting that the person guessed the password.

He could have just performed a manual brute force attack if he was really that dedicated into getting into a locked SWBF2 server.

Not gonna lie, back in the day I used to screw with my clan mates. I'd make an alt account (pretty easy, make a new profile), and jump into the passworded server pretending to be a super l33t decrypter.

I did that once, and it was so much fun.

Sometimes the server name gives the password. And sometimes the password is ... password

Passwords and server names will also reset to your name and a blank password if you edit the settings of the gametypes. Always make sure those are the last things you do before launching the server.

It's also possible that the guy did hack into the server. I don't know why someone would want to hack into an almost empty server, but it's doable.
Was this a dedicated or non-dedicated server?

Re: "getting into" a password locked server
I have had this happen to me on multiple instances. Even when the password is coded (a code only my high-ranking clanmates would know) and everyone given the password is there.
I also notice the same people who do it are the ones who crash servers. Even though they can get into password locked regular dedicateds, once I installed v1.4 they stopped it entirely.
