ALDERAAN: COUNTERATTACK (Public Beta Released)

Yep, I figured, since the map is pretty much done, I may as well just release this to everyone as a public beta, instead of releasing it to only a few select people. So, here it is:

Enjoy the map, and post any bugs or discontinuities you may find here.
(Also, special thanks to Delta for basically setting up the entire Republic side for me. Without him, I'd still be sitting here trying to get the sides to work...)

Attention everyone who's downloaded the beta. I've updated the link with a newer version of the map. Please download that one instead. It includes some customizations to the CIS side, along with the previous version's features (custom Republic side, etc.)

Very nice i played the first version and i and a good time. i love the suport trooper (i think thats what its called i know its the bottom 1 though) it was fun to go up to a big group and just blast the crap out of them. nice job.

I played hte first version, and here's my thoughts..
Not diverse enough. At all. You should have like some massive buildin off to the center/side with two CPs in it. That would be awesome, really. Right now it's mostly a 'get to the middle and fight untill your brain gets squeezed out and go back a try it again!!!!--Untill you've killed them all or you just dont have any brains left!' More Variety.
Also, add aircraft. Screw unbalanced, if there's two CPs in a big building...does it matter? That'll make it more balanced.

It would be so much more fun. Add two 'airports'? (One per side)
That's my thoughts. Also, needs more sniper positions.

No, no flyers. It's hard enough to make it look like a city from a soldier's point of view as it is. You gotta make sure there's plenty of buildings and stuff, so it doesn't look like the city just... ends... well, with flyers, then that pretty much means more and more buildings, bigger and bigger filesizes, more and more lag. Flyers are NOT an option, in my opinion.
As for more CPs?
Eh... I was going to put more. But, if you ask me, this map is my kinda map. I like the big "struggle for control" that this map features. It's not huge and spread out with lots of vehicles and hardly any real good infantry combat. I don't like maps like that. I like the tight, close-quarters maps with plenty of intense infantry combat and everything. Adding more CPs... well, it'd take focus away from the center of the map, and the fighting just wouldn't be intense as I want it. In fact, I was originally just going to have the three CPs; CIS one, Rep one, and the center one. But, the fighting was just a little
too much... I didn't like it. So I added the two off to the side to spread it out a bit, and if you ask me, it's perfect now. Eh, that's my oppinion. Sorry you didn't like the map. I, myself, think it turned out exactly like I wanted it to.
But, the second version is basically the same as the first version, except I added a custom pistol to the CIS (fully-automatic pistol

), and a Droid Commander unit with a shotgun, shield emitter, and a rocket launcher. Still, I recommend you download it. I personally like the Droid Commander a lot.

About your flyers dilema. ..I have that problem too. Someone should cook up a low-detail object pack or something.
Does anyone reading this know ways to deal with maps looking lousy from flyer heights and around the edge of the map? Personally I have difficulty with the sky 'slipping by' the wrap-around backgrund, like some giant moving a picture over giant painted walls. . .
A little off topic, eh? It just didn't seem worth a new topic

Well... if you didn't like this one, you won't like the first one...
This one's better, to tell you the truth. By far my best map so far... hopefully I can continue on with BFII when the mod tools come out.

Schizo can you please upload the map without the auto extractor, it is trying to put it somewhere where my game is not installed so it won't extract

Sorry about the installer thing. I set it so it automatically installed to the "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\AddOn" folder. I didn't think about people who had the folder installed somewhere else on their computer... >_<
For anyone who may have the Battlefront folder in a different location from the average "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront\GameData\AddOn" folder, download the .Zip file, please.

Well I like multi-levels, which you all will (hopefully) will see in my map...if people will help me in the modding forum... >>;
So, yeah. I'm willing to try it.
And I'm planning on starting up your map again and trying out orbital strike.

I love this map!! This one is far better then Alderdaan: City Square!! I like the arc commander it's just a wild bullet machine lol
