I object.
I am not in any way similar to Elmo. :P
Dohnutt isn't a psycho 100 post a day person. No offence Elmo. :P

I guess that's true. Well, I am going to bring this topic back on-topic. Schizo, could you send me the version of Saleucami please? The last one that I made had a crash, and I never fixed it.

So Schizo is taking over this project ? Oh great. These screens really have an special atmosphere. Just like the ones by GuitarMan, but another atmosphere, much darker, much more menacing.

The only thing I could complain about is the blue-purple top of these trees. IMHO, this colour simply doesn't fit in there.

I'm going for a really gloomy atmosphere. Kind of like a Star Wars equivalent to the no-man's land of WWI. A bunch of destroyed vehicles, trenches, dead bodies, etc. littering the battlefield. Real carnage, like in the movie.

That's what color they're supposed to be.

Trust me, there are plenty of bots. They're just not in the screen shots. My goal for this map is to make it a huge battle, with tanks, walkers, infantry, speeder bikes, etc. All over the place.

Since I've taken those screens, I've added a lot more to the map. My plan for the map is to make it a kind of "push map". Anyone who's played Forgotten Hope for BF1942 knows what I mean. Basically the Republic will start at their makeshift base across the river, next to their landed Acclamator assault ship. They'll have an AT-TE to start. They'll then go straight over the river, and capture the CP right there. Then down in the valley, the CIS will control a string of CPs leading all the way back to their crashed ship. So basically the Republic has to assault the CIS bases one by one, in order, and push the CIS back. Hence the name "push map". The CIS will, of course, have to defend their bases at all costs. So basically it's a huge slugging fest in the middle of no-man's land. I may add some flyers to the map as well, but I'm still debating on it, since it may kind of take away from the battle on the land.

EDIT: More WIP screens.

Yes, I realize the sky is a little too blue. I'm going to tweak the saturation so it's a little more grey-ish blue.

 Wow, very nice... get the rock cliffs from Tatooine dune sea.... reskin them, and make valleys and canyons... Oh that'd be sweet

Nah, Saleucami didn't really have big cliffs and canyons like Tatooine. It was more flat and open.

I'm working off of this shot mostly:

Image

I still need those bulbs however. I have Bandu's models for them, but they have no texture. Until I can get a texture, I'm not putting them in. I remember seeing some of the bulbs in Captain Mazda's Saleucami map a while ago, but I'm not sure. I already sent him a PM about it. Hopefully he does have some textures for them, since I really need them to make the map seem less empty and barren. The valley has all kinds of stuff in it, but everywhere else is just... empty.

Those aren't rocks. Those are giant bulb plants.

Speaking of which.

cool, i'll check into it :D

Edit: I found a few, i can't post pics now, but i was lookin through the comic and i saw a few parts where the jedi and 327th legion were attacked be the nikto warriors...

I'll describe the scene... it's sorta like a fortress pirched on a small hill... maybe you could reskin the Rhen Var assets into a darker color.. and put them on a hill... Oh yeah, if you do that, make a bonfire

Now Mazda is resurrecting his Saleucami. It will be fun to play both, and compare them. See which one is better. *starts thinking of ideas to give Schizo, so his/mine will be better*

Nearly ready for a beta release. Just some small tweaks left to make; a few missing vehicle sounds and some misplaced objects here and there. Majin actually offered to make some really movie-accurate sides for the map, but I wasn't sure what GuitarMan would think. GuitarMan, next time you're on Xfire, let me know what you think of that idea. They'd basically be like Majin has in his RotE maps.

Some screenies from the nearly complete beta:

Dunno if you've already gone over these ideas, but here is my advice:
1- Make the most of small objects. Put rocks, shrubberies, crates, discarded war stuff all over. Be creative and loving with the little details. That's what really adds realism.
2- Don't overdo the vehicles. It's fine to put them in, but don't overdo their numbers. IMHO, infantry should outnumber vehicles at least 10 or 20-1 or it starts getting stale fast.
3- Take up Majin's offer. His take on projectiles, realistic damage and fast vehicles would be awesome on this map.

On the big picture of this map, it looks great. The sky is perfect and the whole attitude is great. Just keep going all out, really overdo the details and it will be a map to remember.
