Disguise Kits

Hey folks... had an idea, and from what I can tell it isn't possible...

But who knows what the good people at GT can do?

Alrighty first off.

I am making a side replacement mod.

This will make the GCW era into EP3 era instead :P if that makes any sense.

What I need is a desguise kit, that instead of desguising someone, turns them invisable.

Like active camo in Halo or a cloaking device.

Though a player model with a transparent texture would do the trick, but from what I hear the kit just turns you into the first unit of the apposing team...

I don't know, Rends any word on this?

I heard it just turns you into a stormtrooper or a rebel soldier

would is be possible to edit the texture so that it created a glass effect?

also OOM-9, your skin is near impossible to make considering the model difs however I think I have a way to solve that if the question above ^ is answered yes :?

It would have to do with the model as far as the transparency thing. Sat is working on a model and has gotten further into the research than the Mando team a.k.a. made a character model (that's what I get for slacking off and concentrating on school :( ) You can try the no model thing. but it would greatly make the game unfair if done. The best way would be to do the "predator" effect so that it would just be transparent instead of disappeared. Through the model is the only way I know how to do it, but there still may be another way.

well maybe, just maybe, if you talked to Saturn_V about it, he might be able to re-make his disguise kit (wich i did some research and should be called holo-shroud) so that instead of changing the character to the mesh/texture of a stormtrooper, he could maybe simply remove the texture (or the mesh, Sat is the pro in this domain, I have no Idea how it works)

That stuff is hardcoded. I don´t see anything you can change about it.

hmmm there must be something about it that changes the texture....and since the rebel/imp models are so similar thats why it is able to do it....changing from clone to droid would make the models have to change entirely...which wouldnt be possible u see...

could you edit the texture to do this? is that possible?

Using the disguise kit is a simple call in the odf file. Not more not less. There isn´t anything editable in it.

no sry bad question, would it be possible to say create a texture that was transparent? or is this edited other wise?

There is a problem that I think is being overlooked here. Even if you did make the skin to be transparent, the AI will not recognize it as being transparent! So, you'll be running around on the field of battle, invisible, but still being shot at! Or was that taken into consideration?

no, it was, i think. see when you use the disguese kit, the people stop shoting at you. so if you delete the textures that you turn into somehow, you would be invisable but like the person above said, it would still be the same as a normal disguse kit, just you can't see your own player

an invisible texture would be impossible....meaning the texture would have to change accourding to the color of the ground....which normal textures dont have to do

Ah, yes, that would make sense. But also, it kind of doesn't. Unless the AI in-game think that the disguise really makes you one of their own. But I'm sure someone has tested it, so I'm sure it does work.

Ok, now the texture issue... Here is a thought: Imagine if the texture was transparent, but still contained an bit of greys splattered in certain areas. Then, when munged and played, you would see only the little bits of grey in certain areas, but not all over. That might help to make the appearance look right, but would need to be tested.

And, as for the "Predator" look, it might be difficult. That is actually supposed to be light bending around the objects behind it. Kind of a "warping" of the objects behind it. And I don't think we have the technology for that with what we have.

guys don´t forget that you will need to make the characters transparent in XSI too. This isn´t only a tga thing.
And with the current disguise kit it isn´t possible todo.
