Mesh Viewer Troubles

Post by Knightfire2201 »

I recently tried exporting a bridge model made in Blender through the Mesh Viewer. I've done this a few times before, and it worked fine. But this time, when i open up the VRML97 file in the viewer, i get an error message that says "An exception of class OutOfBoundsException was not handled. The application must shut down." Anyone know what this means, or how to fix it?

-Could there be any anomalies in the name of the 3d file?
-Did you use F-gon's in your model?
-Did you make sure you only selected the model you want to export and that you checked "export selected only"?

These are some things that spring to my mind about what could cause that error.

The model was the only thing selected, and i'm 99% sure i didn't use F-gons. What do you mean by anomalies in the file name?

Nope. None of those. The filename is nice and simple-Bridge.wrl

this used to happen with me too. it stopped when i redownloaded blender and python 2.6, and i think it happened on mine because of a compatibility issue with python and blender. have you managed to get any other models ingame?

I did have one other, but that was made in SketchUp and only exported through Blender, which might make a difference

hmm. so you made the whole thing in blender? the only thing i can suggest is that its not the model stuffing up but:
a) the exporter script
b) python
Check the console log when you start up blender and it will tell you if you're having any python issues. also, after exporting look at it again and it should tell you if there were any errors while exporting.

What?!? i've been using F-gons in my models and it doesnt seem like anythings wrong with them. whats bad about f-Gons? Should i stop using them?

There are no python errors on startup, i always have checked that, but on exporting, it says "Blender.Scene.getCurrent() is deprecated. Use Blender.Scene.GetCurrent() instead."

The weird thing, is this error appears outside the area that the other export errors that I've gotten appear. It says this before it announces the start of the export script.

I also exported another Blender-made model the same way and it worked fine, so i think it's probably just this model.

yeah try making a simple cube model and try exporting that.....if it works, im afraid you'll probably need to redo your bridge. You can ignore that "Blender.Scene.getCurrent() is deprecated. Use Blender.Scene.GetCurrent() instead.", i got it the other day and it doesnt do anything...
