don't you just hate it when you join a server online, spawn, and then you try to move, get stuck in place for 10 seconds then teleport off a cliff. How about when you are in a shoot out and u take damage without shots hitting you while your enemy takes no damage. Don't forget about reading in the chat that you have died yet you are still walking. If you answered yes to any of these questions then "Lag Tips" is for you.
and now [/pitch man speech]
i just wanted to post some tips for reducing lag, if you have any more you have found post them too.
1. don't have other programs running
2. don't upload or download anything while playing
3. don't stand in or look at too many explosions
4. make sure no one else is on the internet
5. remember some maps lag some people with weaker cards (endor, kasyyyk, corascant, polis massa, and sometimes space)
6. Xfire can and will cause lag, remember that
7. some FC commands will lag
8. sometimes certain server mods can make others wonder whats going on (and think that its lag)
9. make sure you have good connection (aka not dail-up, wifi is sometimes unpredictable)
10. never put the graphics on high, always keep them on low if you are hosting, ALWAYS.
ok thats my 10 anyone post if you think of more or have a comment.

Death star causes LOTS of lag, mainly when running in the room with the cannon thingy and when within a few feet of the trash smasher. And lag always makes you fly off the edges...

Death Star is one of the better running maps for me... the only problem I have is that whenever a server lags I'm
always standing next to a pit...

thats why he said that death star is laggy... the death star it self doesn't lag much if u aren't looking at the giant laser. the problem is that all the pits in the death star and the fact that many players randomly host a server with this map and then they have other programs up, high graphics, and other lag problems cause the map to be known as a lag map.

Hey, if your making a map, NEVER add lots of moving parts. (I.E leaves, trees, lots of anamations, godrays, etc..)
I learned this the hard way....

@1: That being said, turn off your anti-virus while playing. It's a program, and you won't need It because you won't be on the web. Just remember to turn It back on later.
If you have a laptop, make sure It is elevated with a fan on It
at all times while playing your game. 40% better performance,(and less lag), If these things are used.

Also beware that when running xfire as well as many other programs like swbf2, it can even cause your computer to freeze when it has to show that someone is either logging on or off. I also learned this the hard way...many...many...times.
