Yay, a reason to get another game for my PSP, which currently I use once every 7 months
I hope they make more original maps this time around, because while a treeless Yavin 4 and Mygeeto without cp3's area were "fun," I'd prefer new maps that work better on the handheld.
And they should bring back the classes, just let you choose how your characters look.

Why did they only make it for the PSP & DS? It's such a rip off. Same goes for Renegade Squadron.

Because it's getting to be common practice that portable systems have unique "versions" of games. This would have probably been announced alongside/near SWBF3 before Free Radical got dropped.
Man, you sure complain a lot.

Sweet, I'm hoping it'll be better than Renegade Squadron... Not that Renegade Squadron was bad... it just got boring fast.

Yeah, I think you're right, Tean. This was probably going to be released in tandem with SWBF3. Bah! Why'd it all have to go so wrong!?
I also agree with Fusion about the classes. Makes for quicker gameplay when you don't have to be concerned with points-for-equipment management.

well i hope this beats out renegade squadron, it seems to focus on the clone wars, i mean the article wouldn't shut up about killing droids.

...or build troops and upgrade armies in a strategy-based mode.
So now we have strategy meets shooter?
@DarthD.U.C.K.
That was probably added to justify the different rating from the DS.

Galactic Conquest?
Jeez. I really don't care for another PSP Battlefront, to tell the truth. They can't fit that much onto a UMD, it seems. I'll check this out, probably just a rent, but I'm not sure this can redeem the PSP for me.

LucasArts wrote:"Additionally, players will have at their disposal massive amounts of pick-up and play action for seemingly endless replay value. The PSP provides the deepest customization options ever seen in a Star Wars Battlefront title, allowing players to personalize and build their character with more weapons and items than ever before, including the weapons characters carry into battle, the armor they wear on their backs, their species, gender, appearance and physical strengths. Players can also unlock hundreds of other items and bonuses to help even the odds. On Nintendo DS, players can experience a unique class-based gameplay experience that allows them to outfit their characters with pre-determined weapon armaments, including heavy weapons, blasters and even lightsabers."
No! Bad LucasArts! No one likes having to change your unit and match the restrictions in battle!
I might just pick up the DS version for that reason alone. Then again, the DS version will most likely suck graphically and will lack a second movement method, so I guess I'll go for the PSP one again.
Also, this "X2" guy, do you think that was the guy punching out those clones in the BFIII Alpha?

When hasn't a DS sucked graphically? Excluding 32bit style games and Hunters and Kart.
I'm most likely getting the DS version. There are screens up on the site, I'm a bit scared on what they have planned for the DS version. My guess is that they'd use a control scheme like Hunters where you move with the stylus on the touch screen.

The graphics for the alpha were far beyond anything you'll see from these games. That combined with the amount of time it takes to make a game almost assures that the storylines of the planned BF3 and this game are completely different. Then again, it must be hard to come up with a story that determines the fate of the galaxy every time they make a game, and I wouldn't think that that would be a hard aspect of the game to change mid-production.
I guess the "strategy" that the Kotaku article referred to then was the ability to go from land to space and choosing which you'll fight on.

Where did I say that the graphics would be as good?
On second glance, that guy was a Chiss, and unless the Jedi that he was half-cloned from was a Chiss, then I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that this game was definitely based off of Battlefront III's story, as there is a clone without a helmet running around with a Jedi on (Mygeeto?) in the trailer as well.

You've got to read the rest of what he wrote - that, he said, was one of the reasons why the development timetable would've diverged from that of Elite Squadron.

Agh. As happy as I am to finally see a new development in the franchise, I'm a bit angry because...well...I want mah SWBF3.

Milkers!
the story behind TFU wasn't fantastic and now this......."A force sensitive clone who is a good guy has to fight his evil force sensitive twin brother to determine the fate of the galaxy"? have I interpreted that correctly?
I know the graphics for the PSP would never be next-gen' but seriously, graphics restrictions shouldn't make then have to have such poor models.
Poor SWBF 3.....

No offense, but that's a
really ignorant statement.
- The PSP is somewhere between the PS1 and PS2 in processing power, so it can't even push PS2 graphics
- You have an itty-bitty screen to play on, so you'll never notice the texture issues. It looks bad because you're seeing development screenshots -- oversized screens from the PC development machines.
I've made the Wikipedia entry one of my pet projects, so hopefully I'll keep it fairly up-to-date.
