In the past i have converted a few models and they work great in game. so i make a low mesh and envolope it using the normal unit skeleton made by phycofred. FAIL. in game model was very deformed and un attractive.
so it gets me thinking you cant use normal skeleton. so currently i am making a low mesh unit skeleton. based off a jango fett bf2 skeleton but they all use the same skeleton unless its a custom made one. (which i hope he doesn't)

right now its about 80% done video of it:
(kind of hard to see it even though my lod setttings were on the lowest, i am testing this in bf1 because i am more accommodated to it)

Low-res skeletons have low-res geometry and are utilized at a distance from the camera since there is no need to render high-res geometry from afar. It looks like you have a high-res mesh on a low-res skeleton. If you or anyone wants reference to a Pandemic Studio low-res skeleton then HERE is a direct conversion of the rep_inf_arctrooper_low1.msh to a dotxsi 5.0 text file which includes geometry with UVs and skeleton fully enveloped and weighted.

AceMastermind converted it with ultimate unwrap 3d, it understands the bones and such and exports them as nulls.
