I am trying to add the dwarfspider to my map like a unit, ( like the droideka, vehicles can be turned into units), but the game keeps crashing when i try to select it in the game, right as i click its class it crashes to be slightly more specific. any ideas that could help me, maybe someone could post a dwarfspider odf's that they used in a map of thiers, thanks in advance.

You can't set up the dwarf spider as a unit. The model and animations are not set up for that. It must be a vehicle to work. (Although to make the appearence of it being a unit you could have a unit class to be forced into one when they spawn).
Edit: We also don't know the droideka is set up (it's not a unit or vehicle but some fusion of the two) so that won't work either.

I'm pretty sure you could actually do this, it would just take a little bit of work, wouldn't it?

the droideka is simply set up like a droideka, meaning you cant recreate something like it, just like the acklay

if you create like 30 new anims it could work but it would never look as good as a walker

Your probably right D.U.C.K. , however I will keep fiddling around with this a see what I could find.
It wasn't important for THAT map to have it, but other maps I am making could use it. This could lead to vehicle only maps,( Think STAR WARS THE CLONE WARS/2002/) making the need to script everything with LUA's obsolete( as I noticed you guys never seemed to perfect that, no offense to the modders, it just really pushing LUA limits.
The Droideka is setup like a vehicle for the most part, however it is a slight merging of a unit and a vehicle because it has its own ODF parameters. If I can plugin in a Drawf Spider walker's Anim, and model into the Droideka's ODF it will work, but as D.U.C.K. said it will probably need new anim for that too work.

, Maybe we could work on this together(just a thought)

you cant model something into the droideka, thats what i wanted tosay, it will never work, just like modeling something into an acklay, they are simply unique, hardcoded if you prefer that
and from what do you gather that the community has problems with adding walkers to maps? 0.o

I meant the LUA code forceing a player into a vehicle upon spawning, I never meant to insult anyone It just seemed like it never got perfected because I read the whole forum.

If you'll note you can't do force spawning a character into a vehicle either -- in the link (or one like it, I didn't check it) Zerted points out that when you force a character into a vehicle on spawn you get the unfortunate bug of no primary weaponry on the vehicle.

perhaps you could have it as a non-enter-able vehicle and have it run around and cause havoc giving the appearance of a unit. Sadly, humans won't be able to use it...
