My first attempt, playing around with new tools. I love the tools, I just wish they are as easy as Hex Editor, he he....

Enough for today, you guys have a great x-mass. In meantime, here are my fist "without hex" scrren shots...

Here are some progress screens:

The problem I have is in left bottom picture. I still do not know how to
remove far detail brown color and it gives me geo terrain
configuration. I have changed far-detail.tga, geo.tga to black
still no luck. Played with sky/sun settings = no luck. Any help....

Nice looking map! Did you adjust the vehicle ambient property?

I am interested in making some Death Star modular trenches and turrets, cannon towers etc in XSI, but I am having trouble exporting to msh. I'd be happy to make them freely available for download if anyone is able to help me with the XSI exporter. I have posted a new thread asking for help (as I do not want to hijack this one!)

Thanx fred. I tried the stuff you wrote, then I copy/paste stuff from other sky files and now it is OK eventho I do not konw why. I will have to into this sky file eventualy.

I am releasing 0.9 version of Eddie's Death Star map.

There is some stuff to finish and I need you guys to try it out
and make comments about it. Small bugs with AIs....
I could not force reb flyers to take a run on shield geretor. Also, did
not find where I can make shiled generator weaker since it is still hard
to destroy, some issues with object visibility, and stuff like that.

People at LucasArts forum are reporting chrash on load screen. Anybody acctualy installed this map?

First report: "i dit install the map and i had a litle error in the start only after retrying it workt fine :|", "eddie, looks like it should be fun, but when you open it in game, the game crashes", "Map works fine with me... And I love it, expect some small bugs in it, but who cares ;/.",

Fred, any general ideas what could cause chrash on other people's machine while on my it works?

EDIT: Did some test on several PCs at work. Windows 2000 and Windows XP PCs, PIII/PIV, different regional settings, ATI/nVidia graphics, Single/multiplayer ALL GOOD.

The only machine that the map did not work on, gave me the same simptons as you guys wrote but then I realized I did not apply the last patch on it. After that, in worked OK on it too. I realy do not know why some of you have problems, I will keep investigating.

I have more people reporting that it runs fine. I also tested ded server and it is fine. I did not include mapinfo.txt for ded server but you can make it yourself. It should be named mapinfo.txt under eds3 folder (with addme.script) and it should contain the following:

GCW,EDDIE DEATH STAR 0.9,eds3a,alliance,imperial,200,200

Fred, I will try it out myself with SPTEST.exe. I did not use a lot of buidings, the level itself is only 14 MB, but view distance might the the issue. Also, it seams that you have to have latest patch installed.

It installed & ran fine on my computer.
Didnt realy get a chance to try it. I did notice that some distant buildings appeared a bluish rainbow color & when you got close they looked fine.
When flying in a ywing it would look like their was empty space in front of me then a building would materialize about 10 feet in front of me. The gun turrents dont look right floating a foot above the ground.

Fred, I am doing some work on 0.91 version. Can you help with the following (or anybody else):

The Shiled Generator:
1. What is Kill Region For?
2. How do I make Shiled generator weaker, cos it is hard to destroy?

Thank you Fred, this will help a lot.

If you could just explain the following. First picture when bumpmapping off. Second when bump mapping on. I always play with "on" so did not notice this before. Do you know what could cause this? Texture at the floor is running away from me.
And the final thing. I have problem adjusting sky stuff as follows:

NearSceneRange(90.0, 240.0, 120.0, 280.0);
FarSceneRange(300.000000, 1500.0);
FogColor(0, 0, 10);
FogRange(0.000000, 2700.000000);

and these in lowresterrain:
DetailTextureScale(0.5);
PatchResolution(8);
MaxDistance(4500);
FogNear(5000.0);
FogFar(8000.0);
FogColor(0,0,0, 128);

Object i can see far ahead, and terraing will just pop up when you are close to it. Since I made towers from terrain it self this tends to easy chrach with flyer to such tower. Can you comment above lines?

New:
1. Turrets are grounded
2. New yavin turrets
3. Localization done (eng)
4. Shiled generator is much weaker
5. Some viewdistance issues resolved as well as lowrez textures
6. Flyer adjustments
