First of all you should get a good painting programm.
The Gimp is a good freeware.
You should try this, just google it.

Go into BF2ModTools/assets/sides/***(three letter name of a side)/msh
and you can edit the targas or tgas in there for new skins. Putting them in-game is a whole new issue. Some programs don't take tga, so you can convert on a few sites.

(P.S. copy what you want edited out, so you don't ruin the orgional!)

Did you download GIMP? And is it your default .tga opener? If not, I'd recommend setting it to be. Or just make sure you open the .tga files with GIMP. And make copies of the files you want to skin and skin the copies-you don't want to alter the default one and then not have it for future skins :P .

*sigh*

GIMP = Gnu image manipulation program.
Also, look in the everything you need thread to get started. .tgas are skins, .mshs are models and can be opened in notepad to show what texture is needed, and .option files just mess with the others in some way.

Also, when you save your .tgas with gimp, save AS, not just save. replace the current file and uncheck rle compression or it won't work. welcome.

You say it is good to help them but for gods sake why don't people just read the tutorials. there is no point in people just asking the same question in a new topic practically every week.
