This got pretty good reviews, and apparently isn't really an action movie at all.

I was both upset and excited when I saw the trailer. I recently watched the Russian tv interpretation of Sherlock Holmes, and it was so great (and it is regarded as one of the best), that that image engrained itself in my mind. When I saw the trailer, I was let down by that, and by the fact that it didn't seem like Holmes at all. Perhaps a new detective name, but not Holmes.

However, like lots of people, I enjoy action-y films, and I enjoyed both Transformers films. This excited me, as a teenager who likes to watch film like this.

In my opinion, this will probably be a fun film to watch, but not fullfilling as a Sherlock Holmes film. I was especially upset by the main villain not being Dr. Moriarty. But who knows (keeps Batman Begins->Dark Knight villains in mind).

*AHEM*

Does anybody remember the Super Mario Bros. movie?

Yeah.

Moriarty only appeared once in the stories, so I'm not exactly surprised nor disappointed that he's not in the movie.

But that was also to Doyle one of Sherlocks greatest adventures, and it was my favorite as well. And moriarty is a character who doesn't have to be invented anew and who has and could easily be given a stronger back story.

Has anyone seen the movie? Who is the antagonist?

Lord Blackwood, although Moriarty is in the film as well, and by the sound of the film's ending there may be a sequel which would most likely star Moriarty as the villain.

Having seen the movie, it actually surprised me a lot. The trailers sold it much more as a dumb movie than it was - it wasn't pure Holmes, but it was enjoyable and a fun movie.

I'm not sure if you watch this show at all, but if you do, did the movie remind you a bit of CSI?

Just came home from the theater, and it was a very fun and entertaining film. I would simply plaguarize Mav, but instead: QFT
