Explorer Question [Solved]

Post by DarthAphotic »

I most recently was able to convert a Sketchup model to SWBFII and it works perfectly. Well, I was going to do another, and I went through the same process, making sure all of the images were in sized in powers of 2, made all of them TGAs, and edited the .dae file to match. Well, I did like I did before and followed the Sketchup to XSI to SWBFII found in the FAQ in this forum. The problem is, there is over 2000 mesh parts that need to be moved to the Scene Root (Not the green ones). Is there a way to select all of them, just them, because I really don't got the time to move all of them that. >,> I have to do it also because If I try to merge after just doing CTRL + A it gives an error that there isn't something right in group 0. Anyways, hope someone knows what to do :p Here's an image below for better explanation, thank you!

P.S, this is Autodesk Softimage Mod Tool 7.5, and if there is a way to do a merge after moving the meshes to the Scene Root, can you tell please, I've just been following the FAQ.

Here is an easy way to do this. Make sure you are in object mode in XSI. Drag a box around all your objects. They should all turn white. If you cannot drag a box around them go to Select > tools > rectangle. Once your objects are white, hit 8 to go to the explorer. All you objects in the explorer should be highlighted. From there, click on any highlighted object and drag it to your scene root. All objects will no be under the scene root. I just tested this myself, works like a charm. To merge all your objects into one, select all of them (using the method above) and go to create > poly mesh > merge. Then click the delete button. Otherwise, you will have 2 copies of your objects. Happy modelling!

Your merge failed because you have model nulls in the scene that were also selected when you used ctrl+A(select all), you can see one selected at the center of the grid. You can't merge nulls with geometry. Softimage has a variety of selection filters, and one that allows you to select geometry only for situations like this.
