That sounds like an excellent Idea. It would give it that "sketchy outskirts" feel.

Hm, does the building HAVE to be more than one story? If you'll check the Showcase thread, you'll understand what I mean when I say my building would not look good with more that a floor, as the high ceiling will (hopefully) give it a more... grand effect. However, if I must, I can always make some stairs up to.... somewhere

Just don't make it look tacky or anything.
(Tachyon pulse coming from the starboard side captain! Warp 9 engage!) and when it's warp 9 they're really crankin it. But anyway back to topic...

Hey, can I make it so that I combine several prefab houses and other assets to make a tower or a bigger house?
Just asking.. I can get creative with stone spires and the coruscant columns.

Make it fit in a modern city theme, coruscant even. I just don't want the map to turn into a jumble of random stuff, that's all.
Ok, with mshex *done* (sorta, well it works), I can start really being an artist and modeling things. So, for pre-fab houses,
I was thinking about:
- Small 2 story rectangular house
- More artistic tapered 2-3 story house
- Cylinder building with 3 stories
Teancum and I were talking, and he had some great ideas that I would like to convey.
One was to make a Jedi Temple which only jedi could enter. Among the many activities that could occur there would be a sparring arena that gives you health so you don't die.
Also, the jedi-only temple got me thinking about an idea. What if the jedi class was unlockable through points. You'd get points for doing various things in the world. At some point you could "level up" to the next class by unlocking it. We'd have to remove any spam sources of points though, like killing ai, etc. I don't have exact details at the moment, but it seems like a very interesting idea that will prove to make the level more fun/interactive.

Very good looking! I haven't seen such unique modeling before. The plants are a good touch. Will houses have a universal visual address system like real houses? Like have next to each door the letter of the block and the number of the lot and username in small print. Or maybe a mailbox with that info on it at the street with some sort of function.

I think thats what the layers are for. We all put stuff in seperate layers, and then its merged. I'm not sure but I dont think the limit will take in acocunt the merged layers.

Are you using 3ds or modtools? Cause i know you was experimenting with the tools.
Yeah the object limit is going to be huge, and even if you merge the objects the munge time and size will be huge aswell.

It will. Whatever layers are loaded when the game is running will all count towards the object limit. Odds are when/if we get to that point we'll just start merging objects in XSI that can be merged. For instance, if Rep has to he could merge the little computer, monitor, desk, etc models as one in XSI.

Yeah, thats what i have been doing with my models, merging all the things i need into one so that its easier to place, rather than placeing loads of other objects.
Oh, heres 2 pics of the statue...
The gold plates will have gametoast or summin written on them...

Just a suggestion, make the head a jawa head- GURU!!!! Hes got to be credited in this map, even if he doesnt yet have a lot.

I think THEN in it should be the whole body...Clone with Jawahead?
