Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
I can think of how that atomic bomb might be possible, but then it'd have to be a suicide weapon and require some LUA work and there's no gauruntee that it'd be visually appealing.
Force heave sounds interesting - but getting it to sprout from the ground instead of abruptly appearing out of nowhere could be difficult.

It's wouldn't be as suicidal if friendly fire were deactivated, but it would have to be detonated via remote control. For example, you find a secret underground remote turret control chair and it controls an orbital strike beacon. However, intead of giant blaster bolts faliing from the sky, the atom bomb comes down Hiroshima style.Fiodis wrote:I can think of how that atomic bomb might be possible, but then it'd have to be a suicide weapon and require some LUA work and there's no gauruntee that it'd be visually appealing.

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
How about an Orbital Strike beacon, very similar to Orbital Strike, only instead of lasers blasting down on the surface, a starfighter/cruiser comes crashing down and makes a HUGE explosion on the ground.

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
wouldn't be to hard, use the bf1 vulture droid model for a missile, make a big flame and smoke trail effect use the explosion effect from a fighter blowing up, with more damage and radius, for republic use "Downed Vulture Droid", for CIS "Vulture Strike" (without flames and smoke though).
or any other variation with TIE or whatever...

Cool. I think it would be more satisfying to see like, a Star Destroyer or something crash onto a group of enemies.

I hope I'm not playing Junior Moderator here, but....
Don't type in a colored font, Scorpion. It's against the rules.
Random character smileys are kind of annoying too =P
Your ideas sound pretty cool, in fact they don't sound too terribly hard to do, except for the nightvision one, dunno how to do that...

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
It depends, just being green will help to see, or possibly attaching a light to a new model will help.

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
You can only attach lights to static (nonmoving) models.
The other two ideas are not, in my opinion, "unconventional": they're just standard weapons with different ordances. An unconventional weapon is something that goes beyond "click and it shoots".
I'm not a mod or anything, so I really have no power here, but I'd like to ask that we stick to unconventional things, to avoid spam. This topic has 12 pages, perhaps 3-6 of which are unconventional weapon ideas/design, and the rest is just repetition and things like a blaster that shoots yellow bolts instead of red ones.

This is your topic. If you feel there is a list of posts you want removed, then come up with a list of links to each post and ask a staff to remove them.Fiodis wrote:...I'm not a mod or anything, so I really have no power here, but I'd like to ask that we stick to unconventional things...

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
Ooh! I have an idea! Turn Max Rebo's piano thingy into a turret, and once fired, it plays a song, like the Cantina Theme. Allies will get a buff from it and enemies will be set ablaze/blow up.

Re: Unconventional Weapon Ideas
Would it be possible to make a map in which there is very few objects to start with, and then two (command) units that each have a dispensable fortress as a weapon. Basically, the two armies run at each other, then can deploy a decent sized fortress to help them capture an area, or plant it on top of a CP to stop enemies from getting at it so easily.

An autoturret that plays music is actually a good idea. If only Dann Boeing were here....

Now you're the one being conventional:Fiodis wrote:An autoturret that plays music is actually a good idea.
Every weapon has the ability to "play music" (there is no difference between a song and a blaster shot). Think of weapons in terms of what they really are and not just what they appear to be.Fiodis wrote:The other two ideas are not, in my opinion, "unconventional": they're just standard weapons with different ordances.

Maybe if it shot a dancing midget it would be unconventional.Maveritchell wrote:Now you're the one being conventional:Fiodis wrote:An autoturret that plays music is actually a good idea.Every weapon has the ability to "play music" (there is no difference between a song and a blaster shot).
