I could do some skins if you like?
Actually, that's not a bad idea. If we just keep all revising this map and everyone contributing in their own way, this could get pretty cool!

(P.S Of course it's a Nazgul (aka, Ring-Wraith). What else would it be? The ghost of mod maps past?) (and a very small but loud "lol")

Each person should have a specific part where there is no competing.
*I call mapping!*

Actually, the Nazguls were their mountss.

Don't know if it's in the rules, but mappers/modders hate it when people ask for release dates.

Actually, I belive the Nazgûl were the ring-wraiths.
Their mounts were the "Fell Beasts". Titled so as they lacked a true name.
Although, they were often refered to as one. So when Tolkien said
"and under the wings of the Nazgûl the shadows of death fell dark upon the earth."
he was refering to beast and rider.

Also, Tolkien writes:
A crown of steel he bore, but between rim and robe naught was there to see, save only a deadly gleam of eyes: the Lord of the Nazgûl
both quoted directly from book. (I have it sitting open in front of me as I type)

That Uruk-hai: Too bright, too "greenish", too few armor: I'd recommend that you reskin a dark-trooper : He has lots of armor, almost the right color, and so on.

But you'd have to remove the backpack, no idea whether this is possible.

They werent in Helms Deep.

If u guys want me to supply u with the info on "HJelms Deep" I will be willing to help u with "Realism". I can help u from a stand point from watching the movies not a stabd point from reading Wikipedia.

hmm, it seems to me that this is not about the "realism." I think experimenting with the whole LOTR concept would be nice. Sure, the Nazgul wern't at Helms Deep, but its a nice touch. Besides, who would be the orcs hero? Sauromin was loping aroung in his tower while the orcs did his bidding.

*Phew!*
After 4 hours of nonstop work (I had way too much homework yesterday to even think about starting on it), I have finally reached a stopping point. My final draft (more of less) of my rough draft. Is that an oxymoron...or however you spell the [Crazy Chicken Dance]ed thing? I'll be posting some pics of it in about a half hour, or more if I eat dinner eariler.

Ummm.... That's ok.
I'm sure none of us need to see your rough draft of your homework.
Just Kidding.
Anyway, cool. I'd like to see what you've done.
And no, the Nazgûl weren't at Helms Deep.
But Saruman is a good idea; even if he wasn't at the actual battle. I have no other ideas for Orc heros.
The Urûk Haí Beserker/Kamakazie (the one who blows the wall) should be the special unit.

If you'd like me to help, I'm pretty good with side modding and skinning, just ask.

Um... how 'bout one of these?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orc_(Middl ... idual_orcs
It's a list of known Orc/Uruk-Hai leaders.

Well, I don't see any of those that were stated to be present at the battle of Helms Deep.
Otherwise, they could be really useful if people did other maps, such as where Boromir is killed.

Great idea. You can make his sword like 1.5 times the normal length, and give him a new combo (some of their moves in the movie just tear through elven flesh with increadible efficiency). They could also have a torch, and a few of those mines from the movie for suicide runs, and also a faster default speed. Anyway, good luck with this project everyone! Glad the "torch" was passed :P .

Here is what I have, I still need to munge and test ingame, however. I will show the pictures and then explain a little about them if I can.

Image
This is the 'castle' area. I know it is kinda small, but in order to make it bigger I would have to redo everything. Also, the Mygeeto building is supposed to be the castle itself. I could not get a more realistic one due to last of models, and that it's just a rough draft.

Image
A closer view of the castle. Notice the wookie barricades surrounding the entrances, kind of like a reinforced door. The barricades are several thick.

Image
The view of the barricades for the inside view.

Image
This picture shows the 'Deeping Wall', or what it might look like.

Image
Behind the walls are places the pic off the enemy team in relative safety. And please, don't nag or laugh at me, I know I put the sniper area things in backwards. lol

Image
An overhead view of the sniping area.

Image
Another overhead view from the sniping area, but this time looking out at where Gandalf comes. Finished map will probably have an ambush area after a given time.

Image
A view from the slope looking out towards the castle.

Image
Another look, but father down the slope so you can see more.

Image
A view with height mode viewing on with objects off.

Image
The same thing, but with objects on.

Image
Taken from the same area as the other two, but with solid view.

Things I can fix. Just one that I can think of, since I haven't tested this ingame yet. Textures; they are a bit off, at first I thought the battleground area was like gravel, but closer inspection resulted in it being sand-like.

Please, comments (even negative, as long as it is constructive) or questions (if someone wants to try this rough draft map out to give me feedback, or other questions) are entirely welcomed.

Yes, but considering that only Uruk-Hai from Isengard were sent to Helms Deep, and Nazguls were only from Mordor. (Remember that Saruman lied to a Nazgul) I'm guessing that A Nazgul wouldn't really go fight in a war with someone's army that lied to him.

I dunno. I just find it more likely that someone... maybe even a made up Uruk-Hai leader would be better than a Nazgul.

Looks good.
Just so you know, the castle at Helms Deep did extend back into the side of the mountain.
But I suppose you're waiting for models...
(And that's the Utapoia sinkhole isn't it?)

Yeah, it's hard to improvise.
And yes, it is the snikhole.

Hm, yeah, I really like that idea. It's got my vote
