A few questions

Post by Ping »

Alright, so I'm finally going to make a map. It will be a Dromund Kaas map and will use a Convo pack side. So my 2 questions are:

1) Since I'm going to use a convo pack side, will other people need the convo pack to play it?
2) I'm going to put a Sith temple in the map, but it will just be eye candy. I would like to know how to make a good Sith temple, but since this is going to be my first map, I want it to be simple.

I'm not asking for anyone to make a temple for me, I'm just asking for tips.

P.S.: I'm sure that I put this topic in the right place, but if I didn't, please move this to the right place.

Alternatively, if you don't want to make your own models, and say want to use Yavin ones....

1) Reskin them. Goes a long way to making a map feel new.
2) If you're making a temple, structure it well and logically. Don't just have buildings lying all over the place. Layout is important.
3) yav_2_bigwall. Extremely useful object. Because its pretty much a lego block, can make tunnels and dungeons out of it. Very useful.

Well, I did say that I was going to put in as eye candy, but I might make a map that's inside the temple later.

Actually, the Yavin temples are Sith Temples. They were built by the Massassi to honor Naga Sadow, and I believe at least one served as the tomb of Exar Kun. So, no need to reskin them, really.

You might be right about the skin, but Dromund Kaas is a swamp planet, so the Yavin temple might look a little out of place unskinned on a swamp planet

The best tip you can get is to just experiment and try different things until you're satisfied, but It looks like you got the tips you wanted so i'm closing this thread.
