I know there was an old thread about this game but I thought I'd start a new one.
The Lord of the Rings: Conquest has a bunch of new gameplay footage exclusively on
IGN,
Spike, and
GameSpot. I took a look at all of them, there was a lot between all three sites and ten videos

. Coming out on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS this fall

.Anyway I'm definitely getting this game but to bad it isn't coming out on PS2.

I don't know, as much as I love the idea of a Battlefront-style Lord of the Rings game... this looks way too much like a souped-up version of The Two Towers or The Return of the King to me. Not that those were bad games or anything, but... I don't know, I'll have to rent it, definitely, before I buy it.

The game is looking incredibly unpolished at the moment. Animation is jerky and erratic, and the only notable improvement from the Battlefront series that I've seen so far is that the corpses don't just fade away.

The corpse issue could add lots of lag to the gameplay. Otherwise, I don't care about animations that much, as long as they go through the orc's head
This game actually does look pretty good, though. Mabye I'll ask for it for Christmas.

It looks way better than the battlefront series. There are no ammo and health tanks when you kill enemies, no CP's, selectable units and the battlefield is full of AI. I never really liked the Return of the King game because all you could play is the Heroes and there was no Instant Action, all you could do was replay the campaign missions with a few extra missions, not to mention the graphics are much better. I'm definitely looking forward to this game, because I like the idea of the movie like battles that's the one thing they didn't include for SWBF2 sadly.

Yes, it does look better than SWBF2, but with the new stuff RepSharpShooter figured out (bump, specular, reflection maps, glow, etc) it's not terribly difficult to achieve the exact same look -- it's just time consuming.

Wait? I've been off GT for a while and haven't got caught up with everything yet.
Rep can do that? It wouldn't lag the PC up or anything would it? Sounds cool though!

Sure it would, but no more than this game will.

Yeah I bet if we had a ton of time on our hands we could produce something that looks like that within the swbf2 engine. I'd rather just leave it to pandemic though.

Yep. SWBF2 has all of the capabilities of looking semi-good next gen (and by semi good I mean they hide stuff with ridiculous amounts of bloom). Frankly it'd be fun to do if there was time to do so. Most of the stuff would be retextures with bump and speculars, with remodels here and there. But holy crap it'd take forever.

I know this is a pretty big bump, but I wasn't sure if I should make a new thread, and since what I'm posting is related to game play footage I thought I'd just post here.
Anyways, some videos:
And new images:
My opinion: It looks very fun, and I'm interested in seeing the people at GT make a SW mod for this.

However, I'm not too happy about the fire swords and huge arrow trails. Also, the mages seem off-place, but I will probably buy it seeing as I love LotR. Also, the graphics are pretty awesome I think.
Can't wait for January 2009.
Edit: better if I actually post the links

Looks good from the videos. I wonder if it can be modded....(invisions a SWBF conversion...)

Here's hoping they're still using the Zero engine. I dunno if I could handle learning a new one.

It would seem no one knows.
Some say yes, some say no.

...but then Gametoast will have to get a name theme for LotR and we'll all become LotR nerds!
I'm guessing some of us already are though, haha. And LotR ftw, so... S'all good.

Not really... we should make a SW mod for LotR game. =D So we are both SW and LotR nerds. ^^
