Well, I overfilled my map to makke maximum use of the terrain, and now I'm left with the edge of the world syndrom. So before I re-heighten, re coulour, and re texture (ugg) my map, is there away to keep my existing terrain features while increasing it's size around the edges?

Maybe you could try to copy the terrain(you know how to I assume?).
But first try with an "empty" map.

Unfortunately, making bigger terrain resets everything.

Hmm, maybe by copying a part of the TER file, but unfortunately I have no idea what exactly  .

TER files are SUPER complex. They use quats (math) which are difficult for the average person, plus they are in a compiled format.

well, BUT every TER-file is 27MB no matter which size of the terrain(?) :)
