After having bought Star Fox Assualt last friday and it turned out Namco had ruined it; I had a wonderful idea...
...Oh c'mon u musta guessed it all ready...
...Ok, so how about a mod conversion of SWBF into Lylat wars:
-Play as Fox Mcloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad, Pigma Dengar and loads of other characters whose names evade my memory
-Pilot the Arwing, Great Fox and Wolfen.
-Drive the landmaster.
-Corneria base map.
(based on Lylat wars/Starfox 64)
Has ne1 got the skill to create this? It would rock!

hmm... this is your FIRST steps of making this mod (but YOU are going to "lead" the small Star Fox Mod Crew - if you want this to happen): start getting some nice Concept Art Images of ALL of it, maps, the machines, the Characters and ALL of it. then start draw some cool images of the fights - so people gets interested
then you get some "Crew Members" to make this work - everything from modelling, to Mapping (and ask if ANYTHING is needed, but people should volunteer - dont force them to join this)
and then you guys just starts planning. if you REALLY want such a mod to be here, then DO it!!!
C ya - and if yo uwant a serius work to create this, do as I said, and about the images/concept art: I may be able to help you

just PM me about questions
P.S. this is some of the Basics if you want this to be a success - ok?

I jus realised... this is a modlers dream - if u play Smash Bros Melee u can earn fully rotatable trophies incl. a perfect model of the Arwing, Wolfen, Landmaster, Fox, Falco and Great Fox!!! You can examine them from every angle and read info!

one prob. Isn't it a little difficult to create good space battles in BF1? maybe we should wait for BF2

I'd love to have ur help Chamboozer... Since I'm still not that great at mapping and can't do much else yet I guess I will have to organize everything... get the details and so on
Its not gonna be space battles... tho it'd be nice if we had a space level or 2... like the 1 where u fight the guys in the jetpacks and the 1 that docks with his ship.
the idea is that bf has the right engine to sucseed where star fox assault failed (mainly control issues and incorrect models - the landmaster is a tank, since when did tanks have wheels???)
All we really need is to create two sides... star fox team (fox, falco, peppy, slippy and that blue female wolf or someone else) and star wolf team (wolf, pigmar, leon, andrew and panther), create a few levels, and make the craft: arwing, wolfen, great fox (maybe - if it's not too hard or too big) and some other enemy ships, maybe even a ridable mammoth (star fox adventures)?
I would thought the arwings/wolfens are fairly simple (aside from the engine glow) however the landmaster is gonna need animations for the caterpillar tracks and barrel - I think the short hovering ability is not possible CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG please... we can live with out those sorts of things but they would be nice.

Very interesting mod, but it will take the dedication of the mod team to create such a mod. Mandalorian Wars has been at it for quite a few months and we just started pumping out our first basic models. We have a long way to go and a short time to get there. (Pushing before BF2 release) Choose your members well. The hardest part will be getting people to volunteer their skills full time to get the mod out. We are still looking for people to assist the current members and take up some slack but we have had no luck despite advertising on the home page of both gametoast and shadowlan. If you get a team together this will work. If not, then this idea will go the way of many other promising ideas, not to sound too harsh.

Thanx for all the advice every1... I was thinking of learning to create objects/vehicles but I am confused about the current situation with bconstucter and xsi - I asume I'd have to pay to be able to have a chance to create - and i dont know if I'd understand what I'm doing... I think I could create gd replica models of the starfox craft if the programs r easy to understand. can some1 give me some info on this or the project will collapse b4 it begins.

You are right about having to pay at the moment to get a good export. But the modtool from softimage is available for free and you can create dotxsi models from it. I'm sure some of us modelers would be glad to export it into the game for ya. There is a simple tutorial out there by a gametoast member that helps a beginner model in xsi for the game. I'll ask guru and the author if I can post it in the downloads for everyone. (after all, it is guru's site and I don't upload nothing to it that I'm not authorized to without his permission.)

hehe, there's NOTHING like the respect of an Administator

lol
we chatted a little on msn, and I told you some tips too - and I think I have Super Smash Bros. Melee - and with thoose Throphies

so I'll gonna take a closer look at it, and help you getting started - but the 90% of the time is used on Mandalorian Crew

and as kme on msn about the modeling things - you asked a little a few hours ago, but tell me if there's anything you want to know

(or else I'll just ask someone, lol)

Ok I'm getting a bit of feedback on the quiz!

some1 has generously voted that it is the best idea eva!! (and no it wasn't me lol!!)

: I'm quite disappointed at the number of ppl who have no idea what Star Fox is; it's only 1 of the greateast franchizes ever...
it started back on the SNES (super famicom to those unlucky americans who got the ugly "doorstop" design) the 1st game was known as Starwing in Europe it was released in 1993 made by Nintendo & Argonaut and was the 1st game to incl. the Super FX chip (it allowed 3D objects and cool fx to be produced also used in Yoshi's Island)!! Its a kick-arse space fighter and it wasn't ur typical R-Type side scrolling nonsense. They made a 2nd then went on to make the amazing Lylat Wars/Starfox 64 and since then it went a bit pear-shaped with a zelda style adventure and the latest and by far the worst in my opinion - Star Fox Assault (made by Namco).
I highly suggest u try both Starwing/Starfox & Lylat Wars/Starfox 64 some way or another (emulated, second hand, w8 till the Nintendo revolution then download them or something else).

Those of u who think it's impossible should think again its only a few new models, a couple of maps and 2 teams of characters -
it's so worth while! And
YOU can help make it happen.

Those of u who voted that u hate star fox; shame on u, leave now!
:!: Can some1 get me a link to dl xsi the totally free version (not the free trial 1) Thanx. I looked already and could not find it.

The modtools are the only one that I know of. I must admit that I voted too much work or not possible for a few reasons:
1. To gather a dedicated team takes time and dedication yourself.
2. Most people who will likely join your team permanently would be amature modders. The time it takes to learn how to mod the game, everything from map making to modeling, can be lengthy.
3. The people who agree to help you part time also have projects of thier own they are working with, so in actuality, they have little time to help.
4. You have to keep morale up with the little team you will recieve and eventually, as leader, you will have to learn several things to pick up the slack when a team member experiences complications, down time, or dropping out all to gether. This again is time consuming.
5. You will have to learn to leave friendship out of the equation at times and let go of team members that are unproductive and leeching off the name of the project. That is the hardest thing to balance. You have to know the entire situation and make the decision based on the facts you gathered. You do not want to let a person go if they may have talent somewhere else.
I do not agree that it is impossible, anything is possible, it's just it will take shear determination to get the project started, rolling, and eventually finished. It will be an uphill battle (trust me, everyone on the Mandalorian Wars mod knows this and has extensive experience on the effects. They see me working my arse off with little sleep to help out in areas that need it and everyone else sacrifices their limited personal time to research and create things. You could say we are a good team.) and only dedication will prevail. If you KNOW you can handle the above obsticles, then you will succeed. If you can't, don't bother, it is not worth the ulcers. IT will be all dependant on you, the mod leader. The great thing about it though is you will make new friends and learn new things. Remember a team is like your family, there will be problems, but the bond is stronger if everyone lets it be.

Are you talking about the xsi modtool? It is located at
http://www.softimage.com. It is sort of a demo because it is limited in certain functions (like plugin support). That is the only totally free one I know of.
