WIP: YJJ's Model Pack

Without any big words - I just wanted to stop by and tell you people I have a model pack comming along pretty well. The pack will include the models and the textures you see in the picture below, the empty UVs and perhaps some reskins. The stuff is a bit cubic, yes, but that is the whole point of it. I want a small file size - therefore I am only using 256x256 textures (with the exception of the chest, it is using a 256x512 texture). Let's put it this way - I have mirrored ALOT of surfaces.

Any suggestions? Feedback? Ideas about models I should include? Spam me down. :D

PS: The textures are hand-made with GIMP, not a single photo was used. Though, the downloaded brushes I use could be photo-sourced, but that doesn't really matters here...

His thread is fine here. It's a work in progress, so that's where it should be.

Nice looking models, man. Glad to have another talented modeler here

Thanks for all the positive comments guys! If you want to know the translation of that text, you must translate it yourself - It is Aurabesh and I suppose it would be easy to find the its Alphabet on the net... But well, I can give you a hint on the content - It is mainly random things without importance.

So, here are some reskins I did today. Don't mind the wodden parts on the blackboard, I just wanted to show how you can repaint objects to brand-new ones. Dang, some people think new stuff is about having new üB3R 1337,9 MoDeLz when you actually can reskin alredy made stuff.

Wow, are those textures really hand-made? Kudos. :) I'm sure non-modelers will love these.

Yep, that is true. I'm a guy who puts almost no effort on the models and awesomely much on the textures, at least when we speak about making stuff for the old school looking Battlefront Franchise.

Spot on with those translations, Red dude. As I said, it is mostly random crap, and I do that for a reason. It's sometimes difficult to make the text fit in the given texture size, specially when we're talking about the rather small format I use. It is a joy to work with models based upon the Star Wars universe (or any universe whose locations are entirely fictional), because then I can simply type in letters however I want - and still it looks cool! That would never work for real stuff, because then the text must make sense.

And yeah, before I forget to tell you...

The mesh package will probably be released this weekend.

Nice job on those models, they're simple but have such wide possibility for use as various things in all kinds of maps. However, a Courscant map comes quickly to mind.

Also Huge respect for making your own textures, I'm no good at that. I have to spend alot of time searching the net for good textures for my latest projects, You don't necessarily save more time, but it takes some mean skill, particularly when they are so well done.

Looking forward to this, and the possibilities that the future holds for a skilled, and poly-conscious modeler like yourself.

Never was so good at being poly-conscious either. :P

Great work!

Thanks for those words, Caleb! :greeny:

Actually, I originally had a simple Coruscant map in mind. I wanted it to have good gameplay, but also it would have a very small file size, and because of that I decided to make a bunch of very simple models. Eventually I got tired of planning the map design, so the project never got finished. Sad really.

However, all of my models aren't that simple. I have a VERY detailed Gibson guitar model sleeping on the Hard Drive, I might release it sometime...

Nice models. Those signs would fit perfectly in Rends' Coruscant maps. Too bad that's over and done with.
