Helicopters don't have propellers, they have rotors. :themoreyouknow:
What time frame is this map supposed to take place? If it's present or near future, the Harrier is too old, the F-35 Lightning II would be better for the US. No idea what Russia would have with V/STOL... If it's supposed to be '60's or '70's, the Harrier would be fine.

The time frame is supposed to be 2014 or so, so a year in the future. The jets would have to be modern, as well as the helicopters. The russians probably would still be using that yak-141 even though its old, so I think I will use that. I will use the f-35 as the american jet. As for helicopters, I could find a way to make them work, but they wouldn't really feel like Battlefield 3 helicopters, obviously. I think an ah-6 littlebird should do nicely; any ideas for what the russians should use?

Maybe this:

I think there should be a "wikipedia is your friend" smiley

If we are going to use a heavier helicopter like that then maybe a blackhawk would work nicely for the US team.

I think that is a good idea.

It would be a lot more imposing though

More fun to fly though

As you may know, or not know i am allowed to help on this project. While the other ones do all that weapon stuff i am actually one of them who models houses. So i started modeling this house.
Heres a picture (please feedback, i am not a long time modeler and not an architecture student so i cant say if thats good enough or even not).
Small Update:
If it is good enough i'll finish it (have to redo the windows) and start texturing

Set your Helicopter to hover instead of flyer, solves your problem.

How would you change your altitude then?

You wouldn't. But it's the best solution really. Marth could tell you more about how we did it.

@NoMatt the house looks great, I cant wait to see it textured! Make sure the stairs are human and AI usable though! Should be interesting to have snipers up on the balcony.
Re: Helicopters: once I finish the models then I think it would be appropriate to discuss getting them ingame and working to as best as they can.
EDIT: Surpise! I finished my first rough draft of my map plans! Tank you to kinetos, marth, and others for ideas. So with that I am proud to announce my first rough draft of my map. It is originally drawn on paper and color coded in gimp. warning: Massive image size.
Note nothing is on a to scale basis.
Color codes as follows:
Light blue filled in: Mountains and hills with trees. Vehicles spawn out here.
Red filled it: Represents trailer park.
Yellow filled in: Represents 2 separate stores with parking lots and cars
Purple Filled in: Represents large houses area.
Orange filled in area: Represents craters or holes.
Black dots: Represents where abouts I want CP's
Dark Green Line(filled in): Railroad
Light Green Line(filled in): road
Blue dot: Church
Light green dot: Gas Store
Dark green dot: School
Red dot: Bank with open vault
Turqoise dot: Hotel lobby.
The P beside the steel mill represents pipes.
If I missed anything let me know! As always suggestions/comments/flames/jawa's/gurus are all welcome! Remember this is a first rough draft so everything is subject to change.

The layout looks good, however do you plan on making stone road barriers (don't know what
there really called) the road area seems to be empty and those would provide as good cover.
That's my only suggestion, otherwise great layout.

I like the layout, but there seems to be no way for tanks and technicals to get into the town without making a huge, time-consuming roundabout to the street (or the railroad, I'm not sure if you will be able to drive on it) Maybe a diagonal road in addition to the other ones would make the vehicle part of the gameplay flow a little better. Just my opinion though.

The tanks will actually be able to go in between the houses and some of the houses are destroyed so a tank gunner could see over top of them and attempt a shot. On that note, I forgot anti air turrets! Doh! I will add them in later in spots that make sense. Also, should our rocket launchers have lock on capabilities? At the moment I don't think the SMAW and RPG-7 can lock onto airborne targets. Also, it will take 2 smaw hits to destroy a T-90 and 5 RPG-7 shot to destroy an m1 abrams. Thanks THEWULFMAN for that suggestion! The smaw will reload painfully slow and have limited ammo while the rpg-7 loads faster with more ammo. I will add concrete roadblocks and probably bomb/shell holes into the road soon! Also, the steel mill will have a large interior with welding robots that the player can view. So I will learn animation! Yay! The steel mill will also have roof access with an anti air gun on top. All in all, I'm glad you guys like the layout!

The layout looks good, and I like the idea of adding Blackhawks.

Heres a nice little update for you all. I took a break from building modelling and made an m4a1! Here it is:
Made the texture myself + some kitbashes. Now it could use improvement, but for a first time texture and first time weapon model, it think this is phenomenal. Comments/questions/flames/jawas?

Looks good, but that red cross sight thing doesn't look so good. Looks a little saturated.

Also a bump map would probably do wonders to the gun, if you know how to do them.

The red cross thing is supposed to be a red dot sight but I will make it circular instead. as for bump maps, im not so sure it really needs one. Adding transparency to it momentarily and then sticking it ingame.

The handle/grip may be a tad too short. I won't be able to tell until I see a unit holding it.
And I have to agree with Cleb on bumpmapping it.

Hey everyone its been a little while. I am proud to present my improved m4a1! The texture has been 10968996868% improved but is still a W.I.P so I wont post it yet. However, here is the model. I think you will like it!
All this extra detail for roughly the same amount of tri's! (4 more to be exact for those too lazy to look up a ^^ a few posts) Poly-optimization FTW! (For The Win not [rootbeer] The World) I think I have succeeded in weapon modelling. After a very much worked on texture its back to mapping as NoMatt is in the process of sending me house model(s) now. C/Q/F/J?
