What's a "nuke gun"?

That's quite a big question. First, open up the com_weap_inf_rocket_launcher_exp and change

Code: Select all

Push 		  = "10.0"
to

Code: Select all

Push 		  = "500.0"
. You can find most files with "com" at the beggining in sides\common.

Now change

Code: Select all

PushRadiusOuter   = "4.0"
to

Code: Select all

PushRadiusOuter   = "250.0"
.

Next, you change

Code: Select all

Shake 		  = "0.5"
to

Code: Select all

Shake 		  = "50.0"
and change

Code: Select all

ShakeRadiusOuter  = "12.0"
to

Code: Select all

ShakeRadiusOuter  = "250.0"
Now change the effect to something really big. I cannot think of anything that's that big, so you can have fun with that.

Save and close com_weap_inf_rocket_launcher_exp.

Now go to sides\rep\odf and open rep_weap_inf_rocket_launcher. change the "GeometryName" to rep_weap_inf_rifle.

Save and close. Now open rep_inf_default_rifleman and change his weapon from rep_weap_inf_rifle to rep_weap_inf_rocket_launcher. Save and close that file, then go to data_abc\common\scripts\abc and open abcc_con and go to this line:

Code: Select all

    ReadDataFile("SIDE\\rep.lvl",
change it to

Code: Select all

    ReadDataFile("dc:SIDE\\rep.lvl",
(the dc: means it will read your customizations instead of the stock ones.)

Now munge your map with the "Everything" drop down bar is checked.

Now play and test if it works.

S***! I forgot about that! Just change the damage and damageradius to something really high, just don't do it past 1000.

No, don't change anything in the assets folder. Just copy the common and rep sides from the assets folder to data_abc\sides.

Its location is ...\assets\Sides\Common\odf.

Off-topic: yoyoman, please take the time to type out meaningful posts. By not doing so you are actually breaking Site Rule, bullet point #2.

Off-topic: It means you should read the Site Rules. This way you'll know what the rules are and what the consequences are if you were to break a rule(s).

You're not going to get straightaway banned from the site.

Here's the thing, though. If you're smart enough to use a computer to run a game (or especially if you can mod the game!), then you're smart enough to be able to type sentences that are clear, grammatically correct, and easy to read. We're very, very lenient with our rules enforcement, but you do need to take the time to type correctly, with proper punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. You're not going to get in trouble for typos - everyone makes mistakes. When you just don't care, though? That's when it'll come back and bite you in the butt.

*Off topic: It means grammar. If you have good grammar, we can understand you. Plus, it's sort of expected that all users have fluent words. Yeah, we can understand is you put an h in sure, because we understand. But if you ask: What dose that meen? "Dose" is a completely different word that "does" which would be proper. "Meen" can be understood.
*On topic: I like your concept of a nuke gun. But it does sound a little too overpowering. Think about it: Do you want a bunch of AI firing their nuke guns at will, killing teammates, enemies, and even you in the process? It's a bit overpowering. Go ahead, just make sure that the use of it is limited, it could probably cause crashing.
EDIT: Ok, I understand killing enemies is the idea, but both sides would recieve massive casualties. If you shot it, bye-bye. You just earned the traitor award, and TKed all your teammates, and even you in the blast.
*Sorry for posting the grammar rule after you, Mav. I was probably finishing up my post while you must have posted it.*

off topic What do you need to make custom effects. And is there a tutorial?

I'm very, very sure there is a custom FX tutorial. All you have to do is browse the forums. Check out the EYN thread. That saved me on innumerable occasions. http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 27&t=13806. I'm not sure where to find Particle FX either, but AQT has some helpful particle effects used in TEV. http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 64&t=23902 Good luck on your nuke gun! :)

Edit Which effect would you recommend in AQT's random assets?

Sorry. I was offering some already-made effects that look nice. Did you check out the EYN thread? That should probably help.

Check the space assets. I know there's an enormous explosion in that.

off topic Is there a way I can look at the effects besides going to the game?

You can look at their textures, but that's not very reliable...

I am being very annoying but where do you find the textures?

Edit Why do you need the common and the rep in my date_bla_sides folder

bla is like abc or 123
