Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
WEAPONS: dc17m, rebel weapons could be made random? (seeing as they come from most planets), weapon vaiants - certain weapos were/are designed for close quarters without a stock, some are for accuracy at LONG range not the sort of range a stock battlefront sniper could do.
MAPS: bigger maps, and not just one level and with a wider range of terrain (perhaps a mustafar map with the volcanic rock outside and a mining facility?) MUCH bigger space maps and maybe some with asteroid fields not just a few rocks floating around.
Definately prone and if it is possible for developers to think about people who want an offline challenge better bots. i dont like having to stand 1m in front of an enemy and wait 5sec for them to notice.
GAME MODES: thinking a bit in call of duty games; hardcore team deathmatch

Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
Smarter AI- I really hate how dumb the enemies can be
More intense or bigger campaigns- The only level I got an emotional reaction to was the corruscant jedi massacre we need more campaign with deep and impactful story (its what inspired me to make Landing at Point Rain)
Prone- probably the bezillions person to say this but its just needed
Better Space battles- Mobile frigates, more fighters, more guns, MORE BOOOOOM!
Swapable weapons- not really all that needed but it would be a very cool touch
Fighter Strafing- I loved it in BF1 and amd
that its gone in BF2
but what we really really really really really really really really really need is for lucas arts to make Battlefront 3 as a next gen game with space AND land in one map, next gen level AI, and Halo 3 level graphics! That would make my year!

Thought of another one -- I hate that the Zero engine can't have overlapping bot paths. So every level you build can never have an area above another area and have the AI go to both, unless you use a few really fancy tricks (like Mav has). It's really frustrating.

More speech? I thought they were a little too chatty. Although I do miss the advanced squad commands.

Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
Ok. You asked for it, and you got it.
Heroes/Villains - there weren't enough (who do YOU want?)
Non-movie eras (aside from KotOR, which we have)
The New Republic era is setup in the 1.3 patch, if memory serves, but could use some implementation.
Things missing from SWBF1 (post specifics)
As in things not ported over? If so, I'll go with splash damage and push in general. Nothing extreme mind you, but it'd be nice to see more enemies fly. For me, that was one of the fun things about the original.
Character classes (post specifics)
Weapons (post specifics)
I can't think of any totally unique weapons, but there are a few models I'd like to see, such as the Neimoidian Honor Guard's rifle.
Vehicles (post specifics)
T-2B - shielded hover vehicle, light armor
V-wing (Rep and Imp) - basically reworked to play like a SWBF2 interceptor
Maps (post specifics)
Manaan, Ahto City - I'm getting tired as I type, but I'm reasonably sure this location hasn't been done, or done often. It'd fit in well with the KotOR era, strictly enforced neutrality aside.
Yavin - I'm thinking of a map based on the JK2 battle launched by Desann and co. This could be set in areas near the temples used for the Praxium.
Bug fixes (post specifics)
Since we're dreaming here, it would be nice if someone could stop the bots from jamming themselves in that spot near the closed palace gate on Theed.
This one would be a lot more work, or otherwise inconvenient, but it'd really be nice if collision was reworked so that one could shoot past geometry without the shot impacting midair instead of the target.

Manaan: Ohto City has been done on Battlefrontfiles and with the same name, too.

This must be the buggiest map I've ever played in all my time playing SWBF 1 and 2

Ah, I remember now. Maybe I shoud've been more specific and mentioned I was thinking of custom assets. A more detailed map would be preferable.
Another "bug" fix: It'd be nice if the ordinance of certain weapons were given appropriate color for the weapon system, instead of yellow, purple, or (in the case of the AT-AT) green.

We need a Vong era!

Yep. Liked the Bf1 colours heaps better.MercuryNoodles wrote:Another "bug" fix: It'd be nice if the ordinance of certain weapons were given appropriate color for the weapon system, instead of yellow, purple, or (in the case of the AT-AT) green.
Not being an EU fan (or even much of a Star Wars fan....yeah serious) I honestly don't care about having EU eras and think they just clutter things up. Apart from ConvoPack KOTOR era because almost totally seperate and very nice from a gameplay/something new/artistic standpoint.CressAlbane wrote:We need a Vong era!

Offtopic - And please not the Vong...from the one star wars book i've ever read and random images i've got the impression they're more corny, unoriginal and generally badly designed than most Doctor Who villains. Including the old ones made of bubble wrap and styrofoam.

Yeah, I'm not a Vong fan either. Star Trek anyone?

I would like to see a Legacy era someday, with folks like Cade Skywalker and Darth Talon, but only because it would be something new and fresh -- I actually don't know much about that era.

Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
That would be cool. I'd also have liked to see some battles take place post-RotJ. Showing the end of the GCW would have been nice. A Vong era wouldn't be neccessary, a Legacy era...maybe, but just because the concept is sort of new.Teancum wrote:I would like to see a Legacy era someday, with folks like Cade Skywalker and Darth Talon, but only because it would be something new and fresh -- I actually don't know much about that era.

From what I understand, the Legacy Era borrows heavily from the NJO series.

Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
As a supporter of the existence of the Yuuzhan Vong, I would still not like a vong era solely because it would be basically a melee team vs. a shooter team and that would be very hard to get done correctly.
slightly Off-topic: I don't get how all these comparison's to Star Trek are getting thrown around when it comes to the vong. Granted I only watched TOS, TNG and the films, but I only remember one episode with a living ship, and the borg are basically the antitheses of the vong. Their culture is based more on the Aztecs than anything else. Anyway, I enjoyed the vong story arc, and some people enjoy the prequels, and that's fine, everyone's allowed an opinion.

Whoah Whoah Whoah!because it would be basically a melee team vs. a shooter team and that would be very hard to get done correctly.
The Vong had both melee and ranged weapons.
I am not really that big of a Vong fan but it could be done.

I, on the other hand, am a great fan of Vong and I dislike Cade, Talon, and company. So I would welcome a Vong era; that amphistaff, if pulled off, could have really neat tricks attached to it. And Vong-style walkers would be plain awesome.

Re: What do YOU think is missing from SWBF2 (including mods)?
I'm not so sure I would enjoy a Vong land battle, but a space battle from the era could be pretty fun. The only hitch would be the whole dovin basal (or whatever they're called) shielding thing the Vong had going on. I think the canon/accuracy sticklers would have to just deal with the Vong ships being treated the same way as normal ships.
