Shutter Island

The movie based on the novel by Dennis Lehane looks promising to me. I have not read the book although I've heard it contains mystery, action, horror, and tragedy. I was intrigued by this movie from the moment I saw the first trailer, a movie that takes place in a hospital for the criminally insane, that must be where the horror will come from. I also heard the words "you will never leave this island" which I thought must be where the mystery comes in. That said I will certainly be seeing this movie when it comes out on February 19 2010 (USA). Those who have read the book make sure you use spoiler tags.

Scorsese and DiCaprio make a good team so I'm excited.

Just saw it with my parents. Perhaps I don't understand enough, because my parents said it was a bad movie for x y and z, but I thought it was AWESOME. Suspensefull, although somewhat repetitive soundtrack, with a good set of actors and a solid plot. I'm not gonna give out too much, but the ending was such that no matter how you looked at the films conclusion, everything could make sense. Everything was double edged. It was incredible.

I also saw it and immensely enjoyed it. It was one of those movies that you have to rethink in your head after watching it to really understand what had happend. To say the least it's not a movie where you know whats going to happen from the beggining (Avatar). I felt like I still really didn't know what had happened when the movie ended. It took a couple minutes of thinking afterwards for me to realize what really went on throughout the movie.
Anyway the movie inspired me to buy the novel and I have begun reading it.

One of my friends saw this, and slept in his parent's room that night. He's 19 years old. That says something about the movie for me - and I'm not one for freaky movies, so I'll probably pass....

Hmm... Well the movie never really struck me as a horror film. It was a more suspenseful and mystery type of movie. I didn't have any problems after viewing it. Even if your not in to scary movies I'd say you will probably be all right with this one.

Yeah, I'll probably see it at some point. Still - after hearing about it from my friend, I'm not so sure

It's not a scary movie, but Scorsese sure can build visual suspense.

And he does such a great job at it too. Another one out of the park, Scorsese.
