*sigh*
No... I am NOT planning on adding Aayla Secura (or any twilek) to this map at this time. If you want a Twilek on a map (and one that has some considerable powers

), I would reccommend that you download the latest version of my map, Tatooine: Outpost:
http://www.gametoast.com/forums/viewtop ... 35&t=14116
There, that should satisfy your craving for twilek flesh...
Ok, that just sounded odd...
Oh, well, Enjoy!

Well, I don't know what map would get third place, but Space Endor is #1, with this map in 2nd. Too many modders spend all this time on custom units, and very little on the atmosphere of the map. And it's not even that they always have 'broken' things in their map, like floating objects. It's just that the mark of a truly good modder is one who really sits down and things about how the map flows, how it's supposed to look, what objects fit, etc. Then when he realizes certain things don't really go, he changes the landscape, vehicles, units, etc. The other big flaw 'junior' modders have is that they bite off more than they can chew, or put too much in. Guys who really don't have experience want to do this huge map themed on something other than Star Wars, and what results is a mediocre-at-best map with really simple reskins and whatnot. On the other side of that coin junior modders sometimes put in like every custom unit, vehicle, etc. without regard to gameplay.
Honestly guys, sometimes less is more. The reason this map looks so good is that I look at it and think "That could have shipped with the original game". Custom units/vehicles/objects are cool, but not at the expense of how the map looks, and more importantly, how it plays.
Whew! Long answer for a short question.

I've said this before, but i totally agree with you Tean!! Basicly, the best maps are the 'simple' ones with the real BF2 feeling!! Custom sides.. new models.. these are all extra things, making people screaming 'OH MY GOD!!

' and giving you a cool feeling after releasing.. But i totally agree.. I mean; we had 3 football maps WIPs, without any football related stuff

I think people post to quickly a WIP anyway.. What's the point of it?

You can better use the time you spend on updating the WIP-thread, for fixing small bugs..
My opinion dudes and dudettes

Like i ever say.Map Layout is the most important thing.
think Teancum means the battle or geonosis map from Master Fionwe
Xagobah looks really cool.Keep it up

I agree that the atmosphere is very nice and the work you did with the terrain is superb.
By the way, if you're still considering adding in the landed Acclamator, one of Wazmol's asset packs (I think the second one) has a great model complete with landing gear and hangars. There are also a few other props in it that I'm sure would be useful for you.

Yay! Waz's asset pack has tons of stuff!
But holy crap!

That star destroyer model is AS BIG as my map!
Well, I just moved it so that it isn't totally on my map (actually, it is about 30% on my map)
Thanks for the ideas!
By the way, how do you create/add flyer domes? I want a dome that has both republic and cis ships shooting one another, preferably like the Mygeeto one.
Thanks!
Oh, and I have a slight issue. The map may be delayed, due to the fact that I cannot get the custom side with Anakin Skywalker and Boba Fett to work. It. Will. Not. Work. It either a.) does nothing, b.) crashes the map, or c.) puts my current hero (a modified Ki-Adi-Mundi .odf, the bothan General Glynn-Beti) instead of Anakin.
Note: I did not try to set up the side with Boba Fett.
Thanks!

Yeah, it is rather huge. If you want it to be a true part of your map rather than something off to the side, you could try scaling it down a bit (if you don't know how, there's a couple of topics in the Everything You Need thread explaining it). Only problem is that the collision geometry may get a little messed up.

No, I wanted it in the background to begin.
Thanks though.
Any ideas on the sky domes?

Update:
New skins are almost done - 95%
.odf realism edits - 80%
Custom locals - 70%
The map will definitely be released as a beta in a couple weeks!
Please note: This is a system-intensive map. The map is the default zeroeditor size, but the sheer amount of units, vehicles, and stuff on the map means that slower computers (aka, those that run stock BF2 maps on lower settings) might have a hard time running this map. I hope that this is not the case, but you may have to turn detail settings down lower than you usually have them set when you play this.
By the way, I'm not seeing many posts on this thread lately (no posts in two days!?

) Please give me more ideas as the map nears completion.
Thanks!

That shouldn't really matter unless someone has all of the graphics on high while not having a very good video card. I run SWBF2 on a laptop and I try to have the best graphics settings while still not having them high enough to lag (mostly the lighting quality and the shadows cause the lag) so I should be able to run it. Your doing a really great job on the map

LOL! I loved the Boba Fett book! I was making this map but I canceled it. Nice work!

Looking very exotic. I'd suggest adding some foliage just to fill it in.

More skins are finished!
By the way, I will fill the world with foliage... as soon as I get it working. I am struggling with the foliage tool. I really don't want too much foliage on my map however; I have just been placeing it wherever I really want it. This shouldn't affect anything, right? I think that the only way that this could hurt the map would be if it caused it to go over the max object count.
Anyways, thanks for the comments!
@Commander_Cody:

I thought that the book was pretty awesome too! I just got this image in my head that I just HAD to turn into a map, ya' know?

y'know, General Grievous was on Xagobah the same time as Boba Fett, and had Fett not faked his own death, then Grievous would've killed him.

Yep! That's why Grievous is the CIS hero. (sorry if I forgot to mention that)

Update: The map may be a bit delayed, seeing as I'm going to a computer camp for 2 weeks and I will not be able to work on Xagobah: Mazarian Assault during that time.
Sorry!

A suggestion when you come back, I'd tweak the hue on the geonosis skydome mountains to make it fit with the landscape more. You have this green terrain, then Mars-like mountains.
But otherwise it looks fantastic!

Hey guys - I have stopped developing Xagobah for the time being. (I kinda got swept up in Supreme Commander; you understand, right?

)
Im not sure when I'll release the full version, so I might release the unfinished version as a beta within the next few days.
Sorry!

Anyways!
I am putting the final touches on the map, and it should be released soon!

Thanks!
