I was just wondering, how would I hex edit a jetpack to another unit? I just got this idea from reading rep's cape guide.

hehehe i remember trying to do this. i never got anywhere (i was following reps tut on kamas) cause im not sure, but i dont think that that works with jetpacks. i think, im not complteley sure, but i think it can be done with addon geometry in the odf. (and in my map, i sorta cheated, i just copied and renamed the entire msh files, cause i could never get this figured out)

if you hang on, i could turn it into an addon mesh for you.

That'd be great. Also, I think the jetpack is its own .msh. So you could just use it as an addon (I think).

it does have its own .msh but it is also part of the jettrooper model (saw it from hexeditor) so itd be nice if someone could varify this

Turns out that doesn't work. If you make it an addon mesh then do jetpack FX, the jetpack itself will disappear. It needs to be a mesh that's re-exported in XSI with the jetpack on it.

I'm makin a map and i wanted to do the exact same thing...but im not much of a modeler...but is it possible to edit the model for the unit you're putting the jetpack on and just make a custom jetpack for it?

you should be able to hexedit a jetpack to an unit, since most of them have an extramodel in xsi (im not shure, i never hexedited and model)
what do you mean with "just put a custom jetpack on it"?
you can import a unit into xsi, add the jetpack to it (from another imported unit or a selfmade one)
and you can reexport it to battlefront(if you have XSI 5)

Oh, dang. I'm using mshex and it doesn't handle skeletons and therefore neither does it handle units. Oh well, just thought I would make that suggestion. :)

Darth D.U.C.K., are you asking that question because you can export player models? If so, can you export Fuffly's model? It's the armored pilot model with a jetpack. I need the model either today or tomorrow, so that would really nice of you if you can export the model.(Friday would be a little late, but I'll go with that.)
