Sith Starfighter WIP
Here's a picture of my Sith Starfighter. Let me know about what I need to change.
I also need someone to skin it.

That's one helluva nice model, man! I'd love to paint the texture, if you could give me a readable UV map. If you can't, simply give me the .XSI file and let me UV it.

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Thats a pretty nice start.
It's alittle un-proportional, but that may be just the camera angle.

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
I think the cockpit's a little to big, what do you think?

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Maybe just a bit. Then again, like Caleb said, it could be the camera angle. Maybe if I can find some blueprints or something, I can give them to you, and if it's too big or small, you can adjust it.
Nice work overall, though!

Ah ha
I figured it out. The cockpit was too long
Here's an updated pic

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Hmm yes, thats better, but the wings need to be longer

And the top stabilizer, could be shorter, making the slope angle smaller.
That plus adding more detail to the cockpit to wing attachments, and it would look alot better.

Ok, tell me how this looks now

I couldn't find a very good picture for the cockpit- wing connector details, so I kinda made them up

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
wow, looks really neat
will you add some details?
you could make the wings and the cockpit-glasses plastic.
its kinda easy, just select a cockpit poly, press STRG+SHIFT+D set the subdivisions to 0 and deselect x
now make the new polygon smaler and form it as you want the cockit glass shape
now press STRG+SHIFT+D another time, set subdivisions to 0,deselect x, and the polygon a little bit lower than the the other cockpit polys.

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Yes!
Much better!
Some simple details, like Duck said, cockpit windows would be nice, but most of the rest could be done with just a nice texture.

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Ok, so I was checking the polys, and what do I count as the polys?
I have 1690 triangles, 946 points, 1824 segments, and 944 facets
The poly limit is 1500 to 2000 polys. I also have 26 poly meshes, but I don't think that that is it

That model is awesome! I'd love to be at the cockpit of that flyer! Great job! Nice improvement over the first pic!

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Use the number of triangles, and you can go over the limit but don't go crazy with it, optimize whenever possible.computergeek wrote:Ok, so I was checking the polys, and what do I count as the polys?

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
Ok, here's the updated version
I added some more detail, and I think that I am finished modeling it.
So, what do you think?
*Edit*
I am 146 polys over the limit, is that ok?

Should be fine, I often find myself going over about that much as well with my models.

It's looking better and better! I'd say this'd do fine, the rest is texturework.

Re: Sith Starfighter WIP
I'ld love to texture it, if i can use it
Great model, i think it's a cool fighter! So that means the model is cool as well, since you've done it very correctly
