Well... actually, that's kinda what Alderaan looks like. At least, it does in this pic...

I don't know, I personally think it looks a lot better this way... but that's just my opinion...

I was afraid that would happen when the ambient light was removed too. What is probably needed is more varied textures on the buildings.
Schizo, if you'd like, when I get around to finishing your buildings layer for your sky, I could probably try to get you a few new building textures too.

The thing about the buildings though, is that they all use the same set of textures. So basically, if I were to change one of the textures, all of the buildings that use that texture would change. So I don't think that'd work too well.

But the map looks fine to me. You've just got to play it yourself to really experience the map. When you're playing, it doesn't even really matter all that much anyway. You don't even notice it when you're in the heat of battle, and it looks really good when you're down there actually running around. Especially with the sky overhead. In that screen, you can't really see the sky. But when you actually play, the nice, blue sky mixed with the whites and everything really give the map a pleasing appearence, and makes it look a lot more lively and colorful. At least, I think so... but trust me; it'll be fine. And if it isn't... well, I can always go back and change it. I wouldn't worry about it though.

EDIT: Just finished all the bot pathing. They'll still get stuck a bit, but for the most part, it's not too bad. Just a few bots walking into walls here and there. But that's it. Map's looking real good right now, and now all I gotta do is add the units and do some localizing. And put some backround buildings in the sky, as soon a Joe finishes. But everything else is completely done. Should be able to release it by Thursday, give or take a few days. Might take a bit longer, since I'm not exactly a master at side-editing... but hopefully it'll turn out alright and I'll be able to go to the next one.

I just took this screen today while testing out the map. Even though I'm not even going to have snipers in the final version of this map, I just couldn't resist such a great screen. Makes a nice wallpaper too. Feel free to use it.

WOW. I mean that. Nice pick, BTW what font is that? Anyway. My random thought is over now, looks very nice so far. I assume there is heavy fighting on the skyways and the ground?

The fonts? "Star Wars Battlefront" is written in the "Jedi" font, and "The Battle of Alderaan" is written in the "Battlefield" font. You can find both of them here.

Very heavy fighting on the ground. But none on the skyways really... I figured since the next map is basically taking place on the skyways, I'd have the fighting on the ground instead. The skyways are mostly there for show... but now that you mention it, I would kinda be cool to include some fighting on the skyway... maybe have a few more CPs throughout the map... you know what? I'ma put some more, so as it feels like a "real" map, with CPs and battles and everything. Good idea. I've got a plan to put two on the skyway (one for each team), and two more in an alleyway (one for each team). Should be cool, and easy too; all I'll have to do is add the CPs and move a couple buildings. That's all.

Very nice. If your AI is as good as it looks from those shots, I will be impressed. :)

Alright, the map itself is completely done now. No further changes will be made to it (besides maybe a couple bot barriers and stuff). Localization is pretty much done, and all that's left to do now is add the new units. I've been saving for last because I just didn't really want to deal with it. But now, I guess it's inevitable...

Here are some screens of the finished map (mostly the new skyway):

http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/9499 ... ay83an.png (<-- My personal favorite)

I've worked the spawning out for both teams so as it's a fairly equal distribution of troops both on the skyway and on the ground. As you can see in this pic, there's plenty of battling going on in this map (at times, it gets even more intense than in that screen).

And should I also mention that it's constantly raining bodies? Yeah, that's quite a hazard if you're not watching out. Those Stormtroopers are quite heavy you know; you don't want them falling on top of you now, do you? :P

Patience my friend; the map will be out soon. What's today? Tuesday, right? Alright... so I predict a release around Friday or Saturday. Depends how quickly I can make and add the new units to the map. And then, once everything's in order, I'll release the map, and get started on the next one.

Then you'll love this map; I sometimes get at least 15 kills a 'nade!

Shizo, do you want to know how to change the units' uniforms and such? For example, switching the rebels to their urban camo instead of their desert camo.
