What are you talking about exactly? If you just want to make it brighter make the top ambient color 255 255 255 instead of 128 128 128. (Keep the 128 128 128 bottom ambient color though, that will give things a nice shaded effect).
If you are talking about placing a physical light you need to click on place and then place one. Omni would work better for sunlight though. You can add a directional one too if you want things to have more noticeable shadows, which was easier in SWBF1 than in SWBF2.

The tutorial you got that picture from goes over how to add a light such that the shadows appear.
