Kashyyyk: Trandoshan Slave Raid

Ugh, not another Kashyyyk map! But wait, this is my first real "map" as opposed to "map-mod" and I had this really great idea for a wookie-trandoshan brawl.

The wookie side has tons of HP and nice heavy equipment, the trandoshan side has superior numbers and a few cool tricks. You'll find everything from wookie berserkers cutting down trandoshans with their claws to trandoshan scouts sniping while invisable to wookie chieftans with powerful beam rifles to trandoshan slavers with stun-carbines. There's something for everyone.

Placing all those trees and fern clumps was a Diet Dr. Pepper lot of work, as was smoothing out all the terrain, but I like the final effect. However since this is my first real map, I'm sure there's some defect with the terrain that I'll have to correct later.

Sadly, I'm no moddeler and reskins have only worked so-so for the trandoshans, but they still play great.

Description:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KashyyyK: Trandoshan Raid

Another raiding party of Trandoshan slavers has landed near an isolated group of villages on Kashyyyk; both sides race to take control of the fortified wookie villages that will determine the outcome of the ensuing battle.

The Trandoshan's consist of:

Trandoshan Warrior: Carries a blaster rifle, pistol and grenades, pretty standard.

Trandoshan Grenadier: Carries lots of grenades, a pistol and a Concussion rifle (think souped-up emp-launcher)

Trandoshan Slaver: Carries a stun carbine (think long-range arccaster) and a fusion cutter.

Trandoshan Hunter: Carries a sniper rifle and a pistol as well as detpacks, but he has stealth and it's an off-hand weapon, so he can use it and still have a rifle equiped to shoot, though it flickers a bit more than the bothan version.

Trandoshan Leader: Carries a heavy pistol (very powerful, lousy rate of fire) and can shield his allies.

Trandoshan Heavy Trooper: Carries a chaingun, a pistol and grenades.

The Wookies are optimised for close-range work;

Wookie Warrior: Has a bowcaster and grenades, nice and conventional.

Wookie Commando: Carries a shotgun, a commando pistol and grenades.

Wookie Rocketeer: Is equiped with a missile launcher, pistol and grenades.

Wookie Engineer: Carries a grenade launcher with lots of ammo, time bombs and a fusion cutter.

Wookie Chieftan: Carries a wookie Beam rifle (think princess leia's pistol with no zooming but lots of firepower).

Wookie Berserker: This crazed Diet Dr. Pepper only uses his claws.

The map is fairly large, there are four villages plus the Trandoshan landing site as objectives. The Trandoshans have a large numbers (units and reinforcements) edge, but wookies are Diet Dr. Pepper hard to take down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installation:

Copy the KSK folder into LucasArts/Star Wars Battlefront II/GameData/AddOn/

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Game Modes:

The map only includes conquest and only the Galactic Civil War Era

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Known Issues:

This is my first actual map as opposed to map mod, so there's probably still a tree sticking in the air somewhere.

The wookie commando was orginially supposed to carry detpacks, but I'm still missing a file somewhere.

It's another Kashyyyk map.

The Trandoshans are borderline ugly, you can only take re-textures so far, I need trandoshan models.

The only trandoshans I've seen in game are the ones in Jedi Outcast so I started by looking at photos of Bossk from The Empire Strikes Back, but I couldn't really reproduce that too well, so I started looking at other "trandoshan" sources like screens from Republic Commando and SW Galaxies (don't know if they were representative, I haven't played those games). I fooled around with both brownish (bossk, trandoshans from JO) and greenish (Galaxies, Commando) skin, but I finally settled on green when I decided I really like the look of a brown robe on a green lizard. My explanation: Bossk is abberent.

cool, must play....

EDIT: Neat map, however, I have a few suggestions:

1. Place some more objects. All there was really were trees.

2. Increase AI count and reinforcements. It's a really big map so you need to.

3. Make the very first command posts that you start with uncapturable. In about 1 minute and 30 seconds I won by capturing their command post.

Other than that, great terrain. Really like the Wookiee Berserker. :P

I just played it, it's really only a few trees misplaced, I have an idea, what if you add ambushing?

This is a cool idea for a map.
The only real problem I have is the standard:
"game freezes when switching weapons if have legendary status".
This seems to be a problem that many new mappers run into.

Other than that it, it's not bad at all.

ok, the trando warrior should have the ACP repeater, and the trando slaver should have the ACP Array Gun, and all trandos should have a small blade (except for the HAM)

other than that, looks great!

if "Diet Dr. Pepper" doesn't get replaced with [word not allowed] or [diet dr. pepper] why should he?

I would more think of medalman69 should get a warning because of bumping this thread

medalman69 and Chris165, Ya'll already have one warning so I will HIGHLY suggest reading the site rules very closely before postin again, ok? Ya'll see why I'm stepping in. IF something isn't clear, I'll be more than happy to clear it up for ya'll so we won't have to step in again.

Just make the intention clearer next time, alright? What you did could have been miscontruded as jr modding and some Mods and Admins would see it that way. Just watch how ya type things, ok? That's why you didn't get a second warning. (and I'm just such a nice guy. :D)
