Ok, this was just a map I threw together to test an idea, and it turned out to be really inspireing so I just kept going, going, going.
The idea is, a planet torn by ages of civil war and now devoid of life has come to the attention of the empire due to the massive amounts of ores in it's jagged mountains. Unfortunently, Luke Skywalker was able to sneak into the army's camp, and has turned some of the soldiers against the empire. Darth Vader has roused a force of the rest of the soldier.
This is a made up planet.
This is a made up battle.
This whole idea came off the top of my head.
Sticklers, please don't kill me.
If you find a real planet or a real battle that matches what I already have, I will certainly change it.
The terrain is burnt rock. There is rubble and a ruined citadel nestled in mountains and hills.
I actually have been working fairly hard on this one.
Screenshots within a few days, a playable beta within, oh, say a week.
Tell me what you think
EDIT: oops, I spelled the name in this post's title wrong... Changed now, no "t"... It just seems wrong to misspell your own map's name
EDIT: getting close to a beta, should it be closed or open?

How can screenshots and a small storyline make you decide a grade for a map? i think Bac-Talan can make a great map if He/She uses His/Her time on the map and gets enough help if Bac-Talan need some, this map could turn out to a 10 who knows.

I don't think there are any real star wars planets that fit your description, but there's nothing wrong with making up your own planet. Just as long as it's not too strange or goes to far away from the star wars theme...and this one doesn't.

Ok, thanks guys.
theguarder, He...
Screenshots may be up today, I'm typeing from a different computer than usual, so not now.
Oh, and clone wars, tuskenjedis given me his exiles sides, so I may put those on for clone wars.
Edit: SCREENIES!
the citadel/castle

Inside the place

And the ruins
So far, bugs.
The sky is being changed right now,
My mist and rain aren't working
AI pathing is horrid
The citadel isn't finished.
The ruins aren't finished
the sides are closer but not finished
overall, I'd say maybe 50% done
BTW, Tuskenjedi's sides are definently in and the sky will be kamino like

oooooooooooook.....
Skys are NOT working!!!!
I deleted yavin sky files, put all of the kamino ones in and in Zeroeditor, I set the environment texture or whatever under the light tab to: kam1_sky.tga (or whatever it was) and yet, the stupid yavin sky STILL shows up! What do I do???
AI pathing I get. But if anyone has any ideas...
Also, rain... confuses me... so does fog... any help?
And a prop I am using, the corscant library bottom, you can walk through it!!!
what's up with that???
grrr. stupid bugs :emp:

for the sky, first make sure you rename the sky file to be [modid].sky - also, i think you *dont* want to rename the textures.
also, try a clean, then remunge, sometimes that fixed it for me, sometimes not...actually i think that usually worked for me. gl

did you make those models or are they from the game?

Thanks, I got the sky working now.
Rain I'll probably tackle tomorrow.
No, I definently don't have the skills or resources to make these models. They are imported from BF1- RhenVar
Walkthrough walls fixed.
Still got work to do on some of the layout
I made the texture a bit more interesting too.
I'm mungeing to test what MIGHT make mist work. I sure hope it does...

If you havent figured rain out this is what you need to do:
Make a modid.fx file and put tis in it:
Effect("Precipitation")
{
Enable(1);
Type("Streaks");
Range(12.5);
Color(216, 220, 228);
VelocityRange(1.0);
ParticleDensityRange(0.0);
CameraCrossVelocityScale(0.2);
CameraAxialVelocityScale(1.0);
GroundEffect("com_sfx_rainsplash");
GroundEffectSpread(8);
PS2()
{
AlphaMinMax(0.8, 1.0);
ParticleSize(0.06);
ParticleDensity(80.0);
Velocity(8.0);
StreakLength(1.7);
GroundEffectsPerSec(7);
}
XBOX()
{
AlphaMinMax(0.2, 0.3);
ParticleSize(0.02);
ParticleDensity(256.0);
Velocity(9.0);
StreakLength(1.0);
GroundEffectsPerSec(15);
}
PC()
{
AlphaMinMax(0.3, 0.45);
ParticleSize(0.02);
ParticleDensity(256.0);
Velocity(9.0);
StreakLength(1.0);
GroundEffectsPerSec(15);
}
}

Thanks, I just got back from being out of town, so it hasn't really gone any further, but here's status:
-Rain and rainshadow regions are working 100% although they might be altered if I expand the fortress.
-Sky is working just fine
-ruins are just about done
-fortress is good enough (by my standards

) to be considered done
now the not so good.
-troop numbers/renforcements still need to be bumped up
-I think, reading your comments, that I will add a bit of water
-the mist, which theguarder mistook for water, is obviously not working.
-I tried to rename all the stuff in Tuskenjedi's sides so I could have them against the regular clones and now the game crashes whenever you try to select that side.
Basically, there's still a lot to be done. For now, I'm concentrating on the sides.
Here's a question, I'm puting these sides (retextured clones) against the regular clones.
All I am includeing in that sides file is the textures, models, *.odf, *.req, *.option and the main *.req for the side.
my idea is that because I am also calling all of the assets, I don't have to include all the other stuff (such as files for the weapons)
Yet it crashes when you try to select that side, what's wrong?
Thanks for the comments
