Anti-force droids?

Post by Syth »

Whats with droids not being affected by force push/pull? Its annoying because thats what we saw force push being used on the most and it doesnt ever work on droids. Does anyone know why this is?

Hey, you're right! It drives me crazy! I've done force push on droids, but it doesn't work at close range or against destroyers. That really irks me.

It works on droids! (except destroyers, I dunno why, maybe pandemic was too lazy to make animations for them or something? Maybe because it would make them too easy to kill.)

It works on droids, but not very well. Dunno why, but it is indeed annoying. Unless you're a droid!

Yes it works but rarely, it's very annoying when I doesn't work, you'll die in seconds. Yoda's force pull rarely works on droids. (>.<)

just have to aim carefully at them for it to work.

Probably becouse of the geometry of the b1 droids. They have a few holes, wich makes them 'hard' to aim at(?).

I dont think so. You can easly enough shoot a droid with lasers. I made a force wave attack for yoda and it only gets the droids 40% of the time, but on Dagobah against the Empire it always works. I dont get it. But its not just BDs, SBDs (no holes) also do this (not as much though).

Well, there is nothing in the odf that would explain the difference, that's why I suggested it. I can't imagine this is becouse of anything in the engine. That leaves lua files, wich don't say anything about force push, as far as I know.

how about checking the force psuh/force pull weapon files
or even the units that use the weapon
its certanly not the "droid" class label because grevoius gets pulled
85-90% of the time most droids are like 1 in 3

When I play the game, I can successfully push them about 75% of the time :? and the other 25% the droid looks like hes cruoching for a split second but can still move. So that means that you didn't miss but there is something wrong with the model :|

I think it might have something to do with the model structure just being a bunch of little beams and metal pieces put together. You would have to change the model to fix this gltich. :(

The reason you can never push the droideka is because its actually a vehicle spawning as a unit (one of the few brilliant achivements on Lucasart's part). Obviously you can't push a vehicle

Something like force wave doesnt require aiming, but it doesnt work 1/3 the time i use it. It might have something to do with skeletal structure or the model like suggested, but in the sbds case it shouldnt be the model (it does work most the time with the sbd though).
But theres many different skelitons that models use and they dont have problems. And "aiming" is irevelant to the problem anyways becuase push/pulls use a ray, you would have to miss on purpose almost.

In any case its annoying, i guess there isnt an easy fix to it.

Well I allready checked those files and there is nothing in there.

It might indeed be some kind of animation problem. Not loading the right animation for the battledroids. OR it could be that force push is calculated from the ground, wich would mean that it's hard to aim at them becouse their feet are smaller. But I think that is a stupid suggestion .

Maybe. I noticed that when i use push it still does damage (i gave my force push damage) but at the same time doesnt (usually) push.

Well that does sound like an animation problem. 'Colision' detection IS working, but the game does not load the proper animation.
