Jabba,
There are some good programs out there that are very user friendly for mapping models like player characters. You would need the model
to be in .3ds or .obj format though for it to import into the program. You would need to map the model first, then import it back in to the base
model psychoFred supplied and follow the procedures psychoFred and mini have posted. Here is a link to one program you can check out.

looking great, jabba! i like how you added the kneepads. her hip on the left there looks a little pointy tho.
are you gonna release the moddel to the community when you get it all finished? doesn't matter much to me, but i bet there are a number of other people who would appreciate a more generic female moddel than leia or aayla, there was even a topic about it at one point.

Good Job Jabba, I'm glad you finished the model and finally made your 1000th post
To keep track of things I'm going to post the maps that we plan to do:
NJ0 - Dubrillion: Lando's Folly (Trans)
NJ1 - Dantooine: Night Assault (Trans)
NJ2 - Dantooine (space)

i got bored and was looking back thru the thread, at the beginning you (trans) were talking about making a garqi map, still planning that or is it cancelled? i think it sounds fun...
also, will it let you use symbols like '?' in the mapname?

krun, unwrap3d is pretty much useless, ive used other 3d modeling programs and XSI had the best UV mapper of them all, she still looks WAY too skinny, feed her.

I think this might be my first post in this thread, but I'm soooo stoked for the Mara Jade model. Whoever is doing it: Let me know if you need help on odfs/combos/new sides etc.

Tean' I'm doing the model... and sure, any help would be greatly appreciated, but ask Trans or Dread about that. Anyways, I'm working some more on the model, since i have to add some details and make the ehad a little bit less detailed =P

Jabba, will that model be open to the public to use?
becouse i've been searching for someone to make a basic-ish female model to use in my map instead of having to use the four females that come with the game (Naboo Queen, Leia, Aayla and Rebel Marksman)

I don't know if i will release it to the public. I have to think about that. Maybe not because of a conversation i had the otehr day with Mini. Well, I dont know yet, but for now, dont count on it. (Except some people if they want it.)

teancum: we probably don't need any help setting up the odf or sides, i've done some of those so we should be fine there, unless of course you just feel like doing it to save us some work

. but...combos, those are slightly more confusing to me. i would love to add secret attacks and other such stuff beyond the standard sprint/jump/3 regular attacks, but i dont quite have that good a grasp of the combo files (yet). i think it would be great if we could come up with standard sequences of keys that would trigger different attacks for all new lightsaber wielding heroes (and, more relative to this mod, the vong too of course, being a mostly melee faction), to try and add a little more depth to lightsaber dueling while keeping it simple so people don't have to relearn and memorize different sets for every new hero, but as i said i dont quite have the knowledge to implement that. (as an example of this whole thing, take frosh's edited version of tat luke in desert showdown, it takes a bit to figure out the timing, but once you got it you can have a lot of fun with the greater variety of moves he has)
more specifically to mara, i would love to figure out how to give her a blaster as well as a lightsaber, she definitely seems like the type to use both equally. i tried doing some stuff with that a little earlier, but couldn't get it to work. if you could help out there, that would be great too (i guess that would require some odf editing).

you couldnt do this simply because you cannot give her all these different attack animations, it has the be either one or the other.

are you guys talking about the first or the second part? i'll accept that both blaster and lightsaber may be impossible, but like i said, tat luke in desert showdown (pretty sure that's which map it is at least) already has multiple attacks depending on buttons you press and the timing - he's got standard attacks, mace's ground slam (as a regular attack), and some of maul's and aayla's attacks. i think most of that was set up in the jedi creation example...
