Enviro-Packs (4)

These will be several packs of prop assets I'm making. The idea is to make a wide variety of natural objects, such as (lots of) plants, mushrooms, rocks, crystals and organic structures for use in maps, to give more variety to the environments people use for there maps. Oh and T-Gen is fun. :)

Making them in XSI, many of the plants being made with the (awesome) T-Gen plant generating plugin. Textures are being made/taken from BF2 textures, online textures, online/mail catalogues, online photos, and plants i've collected and photographed.

Most of the plants being made have at least two components - solid parts such as a trunk, large branches and base that have collision, and leaves/flowers/small branches that don't. There are also a bunch of grasses, bushes, small mushrooms and shrubs that will only include msh files - these are intended to be used as foliage.

The first pack will be "Tropical Plants", which will have a wide variety of tropical trees and ground plants assets.
These plants are mostly inspired by real world plants or recreations of real world plants.

(Sorry not many pics atm - because most plants come in two parts and the leaves aren't transparent in XSI taking pics of them is a bit difficult).
Some cycads.

Some ground plants. Leaf textures can be switched in most cases.

Sounds and looks very nice, guy. Jungel with more than three different plants is always needed :D
I don't know if you already thought about something like this or if it's difficult to make (I'm no model-maker), it's just an advice:
How about making some bigger groups of plants, not only some grass-patches but some trees, lower and higher plants near together? So it wouldn't take that much time and work to make a forest or detailed environment.
Would be nice!

Uh, sorry, perhaps you understood my advice not right.
I meant, some various objects together as group in ONE object-file, in that case msh, so that you needn't put every plant alone.

Oh sorry. In answer tou your original question then, no. I might make some low resolution background models with trees and ground plants, but all the others will probably be 1 tree. These are (mostly) higher detail than the stock trees.

This is what foliage layers were designed for.

While looking for a good reference for a certain tree, I stumbled across some very nice palms in obj format on turbosquid that were free. So I converted them to msh and set them up for BF2 to use. :)

Included in first pack release (Tropical Plants Pack 1) that will be up shortly. :D

Unsure as to what next pack will be.....possibly creepy trees, or swamp plants, or giant mushrooms, or snow trees...so much to choose from.

Some simple mushrooms (quite large though) for pack two. Not sure what the theme'll be yet. Possibly fungus or cave or exotic "plants".

Whats the second one from? Looks great!
Like the idea of tree like mushrooms. Have to find some new mushroom textures too. :)

EDIT:
Edited the mushrooms. New textures and added a ring.

It's from an addon for The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, called The Shivering Isles.

Nice mushroom, it would be neat if there was some moss, or vines that grew under the 'shroom that you could walk through.

Like those mushroom trees so much I figured I'd make one:

Mushrooms with lots of "heads" like this one use modified versions of the textures that are slightly lower quality but much faster to UV. Also the mushroom textures will be easily switchable (eg the heads are called "shroomflat_r" and "shroomflat_y") so they can be easily switched around.

@Caleb: yep i'll make some little moss/algae/cave plants to go with the mushrooms.
